Ministry of Textiles, presented a curtain raiser to ‘Textiles India 2017’, at the Crafts Museum, New Delhi. Hosted by the Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India under the leadership of Honourable Minister of Textiles, Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani and Minister of State, Shri Ajay Tamta, event witnessed an inspiring experience of the major strands of the textile story of India as represented by the leading crafts persons and fashion designers of the country.



The Crafts Village was vibrant with unique exhibits celebrating the diverse crafts and textiles of India and the skills of the weavers and craftsmen from across the country. The award-winning artisans from Fakre Alam carpet weaving to Noor Mohd Bhat crewel embroidery, Wood Inlay by Firoz Khan and Kamal Matharu, Barmer embroidery by Makhna Ram and Chitai work by Mohd. Yusuf and Farooq Khan presented live demonstrations showcasing the potential of the products for international markets.



While the textile story was narrated through the works of Abraham & Thakore, Anita Dongre, anujbhutani, Anuradha Pegu, Amit Aggarwal, Chaman Premji, Good Earth, Hemant Agarwal, Kaleekal, masabagupta, Madhu Jain, Manish Arora, Manish Malhotra, Rajesh Pratap Singh, Rahul Misra, ritukumar, Rimzim Dadu, Rohit Bal, Sanjay Garg, Sabyasachi, Samant Chauhan, Shades of India – Mandeep Nagi, Sunita Shankar, Suket Dhir, Wendell Rodricks & Tarun Tahiliani.
