Future of Fashion runway show at the Fashion Institute of Technology showcased 72 looks in sportswear, special occasion, knitwear, intimates and children’s wear from the school’s top graduating fashion design students. Students who spent their final year at the college’s Milan campus at the Politecnico di Milano too showcased there capsule.
Strong outerwear looks from sportswear designers Sofia Menasse, Pona Chon, Julia Jiang, Suzy Kim with parade of children’s wear worn by miniature models followed by the lingerie looks was the opening sequence of the graduation event which witnessed Calvin Klein’s Francisco Costa, jeweler Lorraine Schwartz, Nicky Hilton and Valerie Steele, director and chief curator of The Museum at FIT.
The 2015 fashion critic award winners were: Ting He (knitwear); Chanan Reifen (knitwear); Lisaneyla Almonte (special occasion); Sofia Menasse (sportswear); Luis Peralta (sportswear); Veronica Romero Schon (sportswear); Jose Camacho (sportswear); Anjami Yarlagadda (children’s wear), and Esmerelda Fyhr (intimates). Other honors included special occasion designer Caroline Vagnone for People’s Choice Winner; knitwear designer Shannon King for the Best Use of Color Award, sponsored by Siempre Mujer magazine; and Jenna Zhang, Hee Soo Lee and Chanan Reifen for Cotton Inc. awards.
