Babita M for LFW WF12The upcoming Lakme Fashion Week will see designer Babita Malkhani presenting her Winter Festive 2012 collection titled, ‘Urbane Nomadism’.

Freedom and liberated spirit of the urban wanderer are the major inspirations behind the collection. The luxe-boho costume line shares silhouettes from the high-low dresses, maxis, throws, contemporary fusion wear and sari draperies incorporated in the palette of earthy shades as well as vibrant hues.

The colour palette of tangerine, aquamarine, midnight blue, matte brown, blush and sap green come together to create a visual canvas that is accentuated with different dyeing techniques accompanied with texturing like pattern rope dyeing, corded tie-dye and bottle bleach dye implemented by the designer giving the impression of a digital print with a better finish and greater skill behind it reflecting a fresh spirited nomadic look with a touch of glam.

The fabrics ranging from Silks of Habutai, crepes, georgettes and silk wools put together by Babita M signature style of cool fluid urban drape, unconventionally in a visually extravagant and non-bourgeois feasible wearing ways.

About her collection Babita shares, “I have drawn inspiration for this collection from the modern free-spirited woman of today & her liberated approach to life. I felt a similar carefree spirit when I interacted with the African Bushmen as well as the Masai tribe on my recent travels to Tanzania and Zanzibar and have tried to capture this unbridled, uninhibited feeling in this current collection.”
