Make-A-Wish Foundation presented its first ever fundraiser in India , titled  “WISH – A – TEDDY”  at the Palladium Hotel, Mumbai . Planned to celebrate World Wish Day – a global day of wish granting which falls on 29th April, 2014, Ms Sangita Jindal and Ms Neerja Birla , graciously hosted this one of a kind fundraiser in aid of the children.

Wish – a – Teddy was an exhibition and sale of exclusive, hand painted fiber glass teddy bears by India’s renowned artists, like Paresh Maity, Baiju Parthan, GR Iranna, Jayasri Burman, Nilofer Suleman, Vibha Galhotra, George Martin, Seema Kohli, Gurcharan Singh, Arunanshu Chowdhury Valay Shende, have lent their artistic touch, for a collector’s item.

Apart from the artists, renowned designers like Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, Sabyasachi, Anamika Khanna and Maheka Mirpuri along with Nirav Modi, Rose, Ghanasingh, Varuna Jani and Farah Khan have lent their support by creating beautiful teddy bears.

Seen at this fundraiser evening were Bindoo Kapoor, Devaunshi Mehta with daughter Dia, Madhoo Shah, Avantikka Kilachand with husband Pramod, Hafeez & Pearl Contractor, Vivek & Meeta Jain, Sunil & Tanuja PAdwal, arzan & Khushnuma Khambata, Maheka Mirpuri, Kalpana Shah, Aarti & Kailash Surendranath, Ashiesh Shah, Siddharth Kak, Roopa & Haresh Fabiani, Meena Raheja amongst many others.

The Apparel Manufacture & Design Department of the prestigious SNDT University organised its annual Chrysialis fashion show at the Leela in Mumbai. The event is one of the evidences and the fruits of the department’s labour, enthusiasm and the passion among the students and the faculty in the field of fashion designing.

The show is a well-defined and an efficient platform for the students who aspire to become the representatives of fashion and latest trends in the country, in the near future. With costumes inspired from onions, Durga Pooja, diamonds and rust, art deco, pixie dust, The Ajanta caves, poverty and patchwork and yashagana artform among others, the show was guided by Shraddha Vohra, HOD – Fashion design Diploma and her able team of teachers including Fakhera Jadliwala, Prarthana Patil, Aparna Garg, Usha Batra, Solange Suri and Komal Patil.

Each student designer’s collection was a display of their strength, efficiency and hard-work that went behind curating their respective garments, which helped them in facing the real world in their career as designers in the true sense.

Gracing the evening, and boosting up the participants’ confidence and excitement were the crème de la crème of the city like Lesle Lewis, Aryan Vaid, Divya Khosla and Viren Singh on the runway, Rasna Behl and Meher Castalino to name a few.

A unique worldwide launch of Signature Collection of “Earth 21” by globally acclaimed Couturier and Environmentalist Amy Billimoria witnessed support and participation from celebrities and activists from over 200 countries, with legendary icon Shoaib Akhtar as the global Eco ambassador walking the ramp for Earth 21.

Pledged to plant a little sapling & nurture it till it grows into a tree. Amy Billimoria exclaims, “Every little step contributes to the bigger picture.”

Choreographed by Utsav Dholakia seen supporting the cause were Anup Jalota, Bhagyashree, Sandip Soparkar, Avinash Wadhwan, Farzad Billimoria, Roshni and Parvez Damania, Nazneen Bedi, Champak Jain, Bob Bhrahmbhatt, Falguni Pathak, Gurpreet Kaur Chadha, Bulbeer Gandhi, Munisha Khatwani alongwith top models Sucheta Sharma James, Diandra Soares, Kavita Kharayat, Shamita Singha, Mashoom Singha & Shanaya Tuli.

Burberry celebrated the launch of its new Shanghai flagship store, Burberry Kerry Centre, by bringing the spirit, creativity and heritage of the brand from its hometown of London into the heart of Shanghai, China. Celebrating with a global audience, over 1500 guests, including Jamie Campbell Bower, Chen Kun, Vicki Zhao, GueyLun Mei, Xia Yu, Chen Ran, Dou Xiao, HuoSiyan, Angelababy, Carine Lau, KeZheng Dong, Lin Chilling and Du Juan, followed a paved London street flanked by city street lamps into the auditorium of a cinematic theatre style set.

On the banks of the Huangpu River, the custom-built venue in the Shanghai Shipyard features handcrafted elements inspired by the brand’s global flagship. The evocative space, a nod to the golden age of cinema, became the backdrop for an immersive journey through the Burberry worlds of Britishness, heritage, music and fashion and the brand’s story unfolded in a series of emotive, musical scenes, featuring a live performance from British musician Ed Harcourt introduced the Burberry Bloomsbury girls including models Cara Delevingne, Suki Waterhouse and Qin Shu Pei. The magical journey culminated in a finale with British model and actress Cara Delevingne flying above the audience.

A line of art and design inspired by the splendor of the decorative arts of majestic forts, lyrical tombs and precious palaces of the subcontinent, witnessed the stunning Installations by Alex Davis.

Applauding the designer Alex Davis on his new collection of Art & Design titled: “Once Upon A Time” were Shirin Paul, David Abraham &  Kevin    Nigli , Smita Soni , Nikhil Mehra and his wife Vidushi , V Sunil , Laila Tyabji , Rahul Khanna and Rohit Gandhi, Feroze Gujral, Jaideep Sippy, Mandeep Negi from Shades of India to name a few.

Art, film, and fashion gathered to celebrate the Tribeca Film Festival with Chanel at SoHo brasserie Balthazar.

The concentration of star power was high with Robert de Niro and Sophia Loren amongst the crowd. Designer Vikram Phadnis showcases his latest collection at IIFA this year. The collection will be showcased at IIFA Rocks, an event held exclusively to provide an effective platform to fashion and music.

His collection titled ‘Nazakat’, aptly titled, is going to be about the classic rich old world designs, with an ethnic colour range including  black, beige, gold and maroon with bursts of red, pink and orange. The collection will be largely about Sarees along with Lehenga Cholis and Jalabias in tissues, nets, georgettes and brocades, all artistically and culturally rich without the modernising factor.

Gracing the event with their presence are going to be Bollywood celebrities like Shahid Kapoor, Farhan Akhtar, Anil Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan along with Malaika Arora Khan as Vikram’s showstopper.

With some flourishing retail stores in Delhi and Dubai, acclaimed designer Mayyur R Girortra launched his latest couture collection at his new flagship store in Mumbai. Having already created a niche by creating exquisite bridal wear, Mayyur’s latest creations are diversely inspired by the majestic Victorian era, rich architectural heritage and traditional thread work of North India to hint on a few.

Using variegated colour theme, flamboyant silhouettes and grand embroideries, Mayyur’s collection in the Mumbai store highlights the use of Zardosi, Resham, Jamavar, Chickenkari embroideries in contemporary cuts.

The Summer Sorbet collection consisted of sari-gowns in satin, georgettes fabric along with appealing racy structured silhouettes and flirty cuts with intricate texturing and styles in solids and bright pop palettes such as white, black, champagne, peach. Krishika Lulla, Evelyn Sharma, Saumya Tandon, Akansksha Aggarwal,  Walusha Robinson, Anita Raaj , Malvika Raaj and stylist Ami Patel walked the ramp with stunning showstopper Sushmita Sen wearing a gold ruched one shoulder sari-gown .
