The biggest question on everyone’s lips early last Monday morning as the elevator doors clicked shut and the workweek officially began, was, no doubt, “Where were you when the ball dropped?!”   And for those rare few, lucky enough to say that music phenomenon Jay-Z and Chris Martin of Coldplay were only two of the huge stars in their company on New Year’s Eve, will not only capture jealous glances from friends and coworkers alike, but will sleep easy as dreams of rock stars dance in their heads.

The concert, and talk of the town that brought in the New Year, which opened the Marquee Nightclub at the new Cosmopolitan Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, drew a crowd for the history books.  Actresses Gwyneth Paltrow, Blake Lively, Kirsten Dunst, Cameron Diaz and Kristin Davis with actors Mark Wahlberg and Jeremy Piven watched starry-eyed while singers Beyoncé, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony, Sean Combs, John Mayer, Brandy, and Kanye West lent their dazzling vocals in the presence of professional baseball player Alex Rodriguez and fashionista Whitney Port of the hit television show, The City.

Songs “Coming Home,” “Forever Young,” “Halo,” and “99 Problems” were four favorites of the evening, performed by unique artist duos.   The memorable arrangements of Beyoncé and Chris Martin and the creative renditions played out by John Mayer and Jay-Z left the audience chanting, “Encore,” and “Bravo!”

After the festivities cooled and 2010 quietly slipped away, 2011 paraded in with outbursts of joy worthy enough to shake the Nevada Mountains.  Saying goodbye to 10 and hello to 11 had never been such fun, especially with a handsome brood of celebrities and Jay-Z close by.
