Flashbulbs snapping;  jewels glinting;  celebrities aflutter;  a night to remember at the 2010 CFDA Awards in New York City has captured the fancy of fashionista onlookers everywhere.  Today, June 7th, the Council of Fashion Designers of America announced the famed winners of the year’s most celebrated fashion awards, Womenswear Designer of the Year and Menswear Designer of the Year.  Marc Jacobs, one of the industry’s biggest and most inventive thinkers, took home the most coveted honor, Womenswear Designer of the Year.  Marcus Wainwright and David Neville for Rag & Bone, known for the expertise of their craft and their unmistakable British flair, walked away with the Menswear Designer of the Year award.

The event, endorsed by legendary crystal glass designer, Swarovski, presented awards to the following recipients for their contributions to the world of fashion, art and design:  Accessory Designer of the Year Award went to Alexis Bittar, Swarovski Award for Womenswear went to Jason Wu, Swarovski Award for Menswear was awarded to Richard Chai, and the Swarovski Award for Accessory Design honored Alexander Wang.

The other honorees of the night, Kim Hastreiter for Paper magazine (winner of the Eugenia Sheppard Award), Christopher Bailey for Burberry (recipient of the International Award), Tonne Goodman for Vogue (presented with the Eleanor Lambert Award), and Ralph Lauren (recipient of the L’Oréal Popular Vote Award), represented their respective industries with timeless grace and thanks.
