It would be an understatement to describe Daphne Guinness’ closet as merely phenomenal.  This style icon and heiress’ to-die-for couture habit has over the years built her an uber phenomenal closet that actually beggars belief.  It only makes sense that such a feat would earn Guinness’ collection in a museum, right?  Beginning in September 2011 through January 2012, Daphne Guinness will exhibit part of her wardrobe at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT).

About 80 to 100 pieces including outfits by the likes of Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga, Comme des Garçons, Dolce & Gabbana and Azzedine Alaïa will be displayed at FIT’s museum.  Both the socialite and museum director Valerie Steele will curate the exhibit.   Steele told WWD that Guinness is “creative and inspirational in the way that someone like Tina Chow was.”  For the show, she plans to identify the components of Guinness’ style, which range from an interest in sleeves and ruffles around the neck to accessories like hats, veils and ribbons.  Yale University Press will also publish a book to accompany the exhibit.  Check out the pics below of Daphne Guinness in Italian Vogue’s February Issue.
