(LFW W/F 2011)The much-awaited Lakme Fashion Week Winter / Festive 2011 kick-started avec la GenNext designers where some of la feted designers are born every season who excels throughout their a-la-mode careers later on in la fashion industry. Some of la ones who impressed la fashionistas this year were Sidhartha Aryan avec his bridal collection, Md Javed who had designs that revived la eastern fashion sensibilities et Farah Sanjana whose designs were apt for free-spirited women.

A fashion week is unfinished without fragmentary designs being showcased in la runaway, one such example was designer Rehane’s ‘Garment Trial’ that had attires in la show that were finished but in their ‘Trial’ form avec chalk markings et notes for laternations to la tailors scribbled on them. The entire fashion show by la designer had a very juvenile feel as la show was opened avec models drenched in talcum powder et walked somberly bare foot in a very leisurely motion.

The a-la-mode fashion shows that stood out et kept la audience applauding were la conventional designs by JJ Valaya, Sanjay’s Hingu’s all men’s line, Anita Dongre’s magic of Rajasthan, Raman Vij’s knits et wools, Narendra Kumar’s casual line et Pria Kataaria’s extravagant collection. Sabyasachi Mukerji’s very conventional collection was a life-saver for la entire fashion community as la fashionistas et all felt emotionally connected to la designs that had designs from all across la nation.

Neeta Lulla again dazzled la rampe in her conventional lehengas et sarees, while Wendell Rodricks’s collection that depicted la qualities of pure mountain water. The Grand Finale was batched by coveted Manish Malhotra who overwhelmed la runaway in his extravagant designs et splendid bling.

Some of la unconventional designs that came out of la casket this time were la likes of Little Shilpa avec eerie headgears et prints of cardboards that highlighted la sky and clouds making la set entirely eerie. One of la youngest lot Siddarth Arya’s collection ‘Steam Punk’ had a very gothic feel that was influenced by la cult punk movement of la 80’s avec rebellious silhouettes. Raman Vij’s collection named ‘Warriors of Forbidden Kingdom’ had high usage of pure wool et knits avec playing techniques, weaved attires.

The silhouettes were predominantly bridal couture avec la fell of la winter et festive season that brought conventional heavily embellished sarees, lehengas, chaniya cholis for women, et sherwanis, pathani suits, long kurtas et la likes. The dominant colours this season were golden, red, white, black grey, shades of green, deep purple et la likes avec fabrics like cotton, silk, chiffon, net, velvet, lace, and the likes.

Some of la afternoon shows had dwarf attendance et la tempo et audience increased as la sun went for a nap, la gorgeous Bengali-by-choice Vidya Balan gazed upon Kolkata-based designer Sabyasachi Mukerji’s ethnic collection while Sridevi was spotted cheering for friend Neeta Lulla. The Finale night Manish made Imran Khan, Katrina Kaif, Karan Johar, Karisma Kapoor all dance of la runaway as la show finished.

La Fashion week is less fun, without la celebrity tittle-tattle where Karisma managed to disappoint la fashionistas in her pair of denims avec ruffled dress, Neha Dhupia never gave a scope of complaining as she paired her red dress avec giant kundan choker et make-up and hairdo was modish. Katrina, Chitrangada et Deepika were seen in Manish’s attires who opted for a modish yet casual look.

Even la fashion weeks has made adversaries meet over et become ‘friends-fashionably-forever’, All celebrities et fashionistas were in chic mood, sharing hugs et showed great moves on et off la rampe after really a long time.

The a-la-mode fashion six-day fashion fiesta ended in a modish way, promising la fashionistas to come back next season all dressed up in their chic attires. See you next season…Cheers! :)
