OVERVIEW

01
Creativity is synonymous with individuality. In order to achieve this, designers look back to the past to create the future, and in doing so they create a narrative that is both inspirational and tangible.
S/S 18 continues the air of change established in autumn 2017, as intelligent attitudes to everyday dressing become an underlying message. The strength and power imbued within the creative portals of each brand’s DNA are set to evolve, with artistry and handcrafting second to none. Articulate individuality and unexpected vintage references will be key in collections which give rise to items that appeal to a one-of-a-kind sensibility.

Springtime Whimsy

01
This theme evolves from the Garden Party trend of Pre-Summer, in which femininity and eccentricity are the leitmotifs. A return to ladylike dressing is key, where a true sense of occasion dressing is expressed in overtly feminine silhouettes. Whimsical floor-skimming dresses are created in sheer fluid silks while pretty florals are sprinkled over delicate materials. Transparency emerges as an important direction, inspiring a need for elegant layering.

Key colours – pale pink, beige, white, buttercream, red, green, pastels
Key prints & patterns – garden blooms and hedgerow florals of all shapes and sizes
Key materials – silks, silk chiffons, crepe de chine, soft gabardine
Key items – elongated coats, layered dresses, ruffled blouses, high-waisted trousers, slim pencil skirts, full skirts

Transformed Traditions

01
Modern shapes are created with architectural precision, providing a sense of sophistication. Pure silhouettes are constructed with contrary details, forming sculpted, unexpected shapes that are curvilinear and infuse tailored items. Volumes are cut, spliced and layered, providing minimalist, yet body-conscious shapes with an artisanal sensibility. The trend for raw edges becomes more tactile, offering another way to showcase individuality. Architectural shapes offer a new take on functional dressing via utility details while asymmetry is key. Elements of classical Eastern dress are reimagined, informing silhouettes with crafted layering.
Key colours – white, neutrals, brown, grey
Key prints & patterns – stripes, monotone graphic shapes, shadow stripes, polka dots
Key materials – linens, compact cottons, drill, rustic weaves, satin
Key items – wide-leg trouser, asymmetrical dresses, tunics, elongated shirts, oversized blazer, coats

Magpie Opulence

01
This trend is inspired by art, museums and theatre, along with an eclectic mix of the tradition and opulence. The idea of extreme individuality is encapsulated within silhouettes that celebrate unique style. Continuing the influence of ‘magpie-like’ collecting, and fuelled by the eccentric creativity of Gucci and Alessandro Michele, designers run rife with references to a variety of eras as history provides inspiration. The combination of active influences, opulent architecture, royal retrospectives and historical patterns creates an individualistic narrative perfect for modern dressing.
Key colours – yellow, red, orange, vibrant pink, black, gold
Key prints & patterns – florals, hand-drawn images, historical and architectural references
Key materials – jacquards, brocades, silks, tulle, pleating, sequins, glitter
Key items – vintage-inspired pieces: jackets, skirts, dresses

Neo-Nostalgia

01
Neo-Nostalgia evolves from the Resort Leisure theme of Pre-Summer in an explosion of colour. Traditional shapes are reimagined in breathtaking hues, breaking rules in clashing contrasts. This story is inspired by a strong sense of self, while melding streetwear, tailoring and active influences with a true resort flavour. The style and comfort synonymous with the easy separates of the 1990s provide inspiration, along with empowered feminine drama – think Kate Moss and the supermodels of the era. Looks are casually layered or combined with contemporary tailoring and elegant eveningwear to create a relaxed and innovative edge.
Key colours – yellow, orange, lilac/violet, blue, grey, black, red, beige
Key prints & patterns – bold graphics, polka dots, tropical/exotic floral patterns
Key materials – technical blends, sheer synthetics, cotton fleece, sparkle, denim
Key items – 1990s silhouettes, oversized blazer, camisole dresses, slim trousers/leggings, athletic-inspired trousers

Seafarer/Indo Bali

01
As in Pre-Summer, maritime workwear meets coastal classics from ports of call both east and west, revisited with a fresh take on nautical colours such as navy, white, cream and red. Island florals and Breton and ticking stripes are re-coloured and reworked into chic casual workwear rendered in authentic natural materials of crisp cotton and jersey. Offering a romantic take on all things nautical, historical references are intricately mixed with tropical influences. Exotic plants and textures inform print and pattern, while a youthful, fun and rigorous appeal will evolve through sunny references to a 1950s sensibility.
Key colours – navy, red, deep greens, white, rust, ginger, magenta
Key prints & patterns – tropical florals, stenciled florals, Breton stripes, rainforest prints, Japanese references, dots
Key materials – cotton, silk blends, sheer layers
Key items – wide-leg trousers, sweaters, sarong-style skirts, asymmetrical dresses, boxy cut vintage-inspired jackets, cropped trousers, body-skimming dresses, beach-to-bar looks, pyjama dressing, T-shirt dressing

Natural Spirit

01
From the environs of Greece to Pompeii, or to mile upon mile of sweeping sand dunes burnished by the sun, cultural locales set the scene for this eclectic and spirited theme. The Neo-Voyager trend of pre-season evolves with geometrics and updated rodeo styles along with a definitive approach to layered dressing. Handcrafted and beloved pieces are collected along with elements of safari-esque items that ground the romantic ambience. A bohemian sensibility, cross-cultural references and the pioneering spirit of travellers and traders along the Silk Road influence silhouettes, prints and patterns. Underlying 1970s inspiration continues in floor-sweeping dresses in layers of breezy lightweight materials.
Key colours – soft beige, pink sand, khaki, bone, reds, yellow, navy, white, ginger
Key prints & patterns – tribal influences, Islamic geometrics, transcultural inspiration, intricate embellishments
Key materials – textured materials, lightweight silk, chiffon, cotton blends, linen, jersey
Key items – flowing bohemian dresses, safari elements, soft oversized trouser

Pamela Easton is the founding partner and designer of one of Australia’s most established and successful labels – Easton Pearson.

01

Drawing on acclaimed design and success and inspired by her collaborations with many artisans in different parts of the country for the last twenty-seven years, has created Easton Anaphora, an exciting new label especially for India.

Made in India for India infused with the history of past practice and design. We believe in slow fashion not fast fashion, says the designer. We create special pieces you will keep and treasure and want to wear years later. Our aim is to show the very best of the many craft and artisanal skills practiced throughout India today in a way that makes it modern luxury. It’s in our DNA to laugh, to share, to make new friends, so always we will make clothes to make you feel happy.

Pamela Easton vividly remembers the time she first visited India 25 years ago. She not only took back memories that have stayed with her forever but also her love for Indian craft. “I stayed in Mumbai with my friend Sudha Patel and later spent time at the Shrujan complex outside Bhuj in Gujarat. It was a life-changing experience,” Australia-based Easton recalls.

While Easton Anaphora will carry forward some of the aesthetic and ethos that has made Easton Pearson so loved and internationally applauded. The Easton Anaphora brand will focus on artisanal embellishment, experimental construction techniques, bold use of pattern and colour, and a strong preference for pure natural fabrics.

Going back to times, Pamela Easton and Lydia Pearson started their label to showcase a love of craft and design in the year 1988. Ironically, after initial impetus they closed Easton Pearson after 27 years. In an increasingly fast-paced fashion industry, which has seen the label increase its yearly ¬collections from two to six a year in keeping with the global standard, the pair decided to step back and return to their ¬design roots in the year 2016.

However, having won recognition across the world, the label was earlier being sold through influential stores, whereas it’s available at Melange in India.

The Music Run, takes fitness to another level, with its seamless blend of music and fitness. The DNA has innately been in line with self-expression and excitement, which aligned perfectly with the 8000 freaks in Bangalore.

01

Set over 5kms running course ‘The SoundTracK’, participants walk, run or dance through five different zones that represents a different genre of music from rock, pop, hip-hop, old school to dance played over 120 speakers.

01
01

Using a bespoke ‘Music Voting App’ participants controlled the soundtrack of the run by voting for their favorite songs in the build-up to the event. The songs with the most votes made the official run playlist. Despacity came out on top as the track people most wanted to listen to, closely followed by Highway to Hell.

01
01

And if that’s not all, it culminated with ultimate after-run music festival which had, live bands, dancers, laser lights, LED screens, fireworks, chill out zones, – and plenty more!

Kallol Datta presents Random Access, at Experimenter Gallery, that explores the deeply linked conceptual, material and technical aspects of Datta’s design practice. Twenty-four sculptural figures cover the gender-neutral, human-like figures, like a sculptor, Datta allows himself access to questions of material, form and structure reflecting on the complex 3-way interaction between the garment, the viewer and the wearer in Random Access.

01

Throughout his career, Datta has been working towards understanding how the body adapts to the fabric form. Often, three dimensional, free flowing folds create shapes and silhouettes, against prescribed fits and desired proportions. Making structural experimentations in pattern cutting, Datta ‘skews’ traditional geometry to create garments, which collapse when not worn. The structure of the designs and the way they appear therefore, are interdependent on the body that wears it.

01
01

Random Access, Datta’s first exhibition within the gallery in Kolkata, delves into conceptual frameworks that bind his work and reveals questions that confront Datta in his quest for understanding form. Equally interested in exploring material, Datta experiments with cottons and crepe silks, cutting them on their biases and placing them on their axis which still can hold the garment’s balance.

01
01

Datta uses garbage bag fabric, treating reclaimed silk and cotton to give the appearance of the ubiquitous garbage bag in the garments at the show that appear to stand on mono dress forms. Appearing to have no material value on first encounter, the silhouettes created using the garbage bag material at Experimenter have an added plastic film, layered on the textile changing the behavior of the material furthermore. At one end of the gallery, a series of pattern-cut paper drawings resemble multi-layered collages and at the other end, metal panels hold folded fabric sculptural experiments. Brass miniature sculptures of the amorphous dress forms, invoke the relationship between the possible renditions of the form in other unexpected material.

The Jane Hotel in New York’s West Village is the setting of the new campagna Roy Roger’s FW 2017.18, shot by Francesco Carrozzini with the creative direction of Guido Biondi, and is the subject of a never set elegance, young and contemporary.

01

In a place that, even with old furniture of the past, today stands out as a trendy meeting point; the new Roy Roger’s collection evolves the rules of luxury in a mix of concepts that belong to the past and future.

01

“This is a bit ‘our segment, we are an established brand but always very careful to maintain a youthful appeal,” explains Guido Biondi Group Creative Director. “The Jane is an old building built in 1908 as a home for sailors and presents an aesthetic vintage flavor but at the same time, it is a meeting place for the nightlife of young New Yorkers. It ‘a place where an obvious retro aesthetic, second hand, manages to blend in with the ‘cosmopolitan energy of a younger generation. ”

Holistic Facial Rejuvenation Program by Dr. Liana Nenacheva, is a painless, non-surgical method of reducing the signs of the aging process.

This Program is a rejuvenation and revitalization process for all your physical and subtle body and mind. The Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture treatment is based on the principles of Oriental Medicine.

luxe-02

What are the effects?
By balancing qi, blood, fluids, yin and yang, the body is put into balance and optimum tone so that the aging process and its causes are slowed down, halted or reversed.

Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture may erase from five to fifteen years from the face, with results visible after the first treatment, such as:
• Wrinkles: fine lines may be eliminated and deeper wrinkles diminished.
• Eyes: bags under the eyes can be reduced, puffiness eliminated, droopy eyelids and eyebrows lifted, brightening of the eyes.
• Facial contour: jowls firmed, double chin minimized, sagging cheeks lifted, facial coloring equalized (whether too red or too pale), stimulation of the movement of lymph, increased collagen production.
• Skin: moisturizing of the skin with increased local circulation of blood to the face, firmer skin and muscle tone, tightening of enlarged pores, improved hormonal balance to help get rid of acne.
• Reduction of stress evident in the face — bringing out the innate beauty and radiance of an individual.
General effects of The Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture:
• Entire system: the improvement of blood circulation, digestion, hair, sense organs, thyroid, brain, skin and immune system, reset of the hormonal balance.

Why choose Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture over a surgical face-lift?
While not a replacement for surgery, Acupuncture Facial Rejuvenation is an excellent alternative. It is far less costly than cosmetic surgery and is safe, virtually painless, has no side effects or risk of disfigurement when performed properly. Unlike surgery that may have an extended recovery period with swelling and discoloration, there is no need to hide after Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture.

While Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture cannot reshape one’s nose or chin, it is a subtler rejuvenation that takes years off one’s face–safely and naturally, most importantly while improving overall health.

Olivier Rousteing took to Instagram to share it all on Balmain x L’Oréal Paris lipstick collection. A 12-piece collection of gorgeous rose gold, pinks and purples in matte finish, will be launching in September just ahead of Paris Fashion Week.
