Maria Grazia Chiuri presented Christian Dior’s Haute Couture Spring-Summer 2017, to celebrate the opening of Dior’s new flagship store at the rooftop of Ginza Six mall in Tokyo.

Underlining Dior’s connection with Japan, Chiuri drew her inspiration from cherry blossoms and Christian Dior’s 1953 “Jardinjaponais” dress.Fascinated by the myriad of interpretations, the collection had evening dresses in changeant and powdery colours (mauve, blue, pink, gray) which evoke the passing of the seasons and of life itself, and whose layers of tulle trap exquisite flowers, like those we preserve in our most prized herbariums.

Dior homme had the grand opening of a new boutique at Ginza six, in the Ginza district of Tokyo, Japan. To celebrate the opening, a world-first presentation took place, unveiling the fall 2017 collection designed by Kris van Assche.

In presence of the designer, the presentation unites key looks from the collection that merge new graphic elements with a classic Dior homme wardrobe. With two silhouettes exclusively designed for the Ginza boutique, the collection comprises of fine tailoring and utility sportswear infused with a progressive attitude, where nostalgia is remixed with notions of subculture to create expressions of elegant rebellion.

The monochrome palette is shot through with colour and pattern: touches of electric blue and monsieur Dior’s 1947 rouge scream red meet white polka dots and the hybrid word newave turns ‘new wave’ into a decorative abstract motif. Volumes scale from wide trousers to narrow tuxedo pants; they come layered with jacket and coat styles embedded with technical details and patchwork or ‘scribble’ thread embroidered textiles. Both newave and scream are superimposed on the classic Christian Dior logo for an irreverent twist featured on Ginza-exclusive designs, which include an embroidered two-piece suit, a polka dot parka and jacket, embroidered sweaters, appliqué shirt, knitted tee, blasted black denim, cap, backpack, a pair of sandals, and sneakers.

Almost a century ago, the history of Jaeger-LeCoultre crossed paths with that of photography.During the period between the two world wars, the Manufacture produced a camera that would remain unique in its kind: The Compass.

The avant-garde and astonishingly sophisticated Compass is a camera that has made an enduring mark on the history of photography thanks to its unique qualities.

Issued in a 4,000-piece limited series, it has become a collector’s delight since 1937. To develop and produce such an object, he soon realised that he would need the help of a fully integrated watch Manufacture with proven mastery in the field of miniaturisation. Paying tribute to this heritage, Jaeger-LeCoultre unveils exclusive contemporary pictures taken by the Compass camera, as part of the exhibition “The Art of Behind the Scenes”, organized by Jaeger-LeCoultre in Cannes, the series of photographs includes black-and-white street scenes of New York, Paris, Shanghai and Venice.
