This year’s Earth Day, April 22, was about March for Science rallies taking place in Washington, DC, and dozens of other cities around the world.

Back in India, this year’s theme of “Environmental and Climate Literacy” was to create awareness about protecting nature and natural resources. While describing the Earth Day “a day of gratitude to mother earth”, PM Modi said: “It is our duty to live in harmony with the plants, animals and birds we share the earth with. We owe this to our future generations.”

“Eat less meat, opt for carpooling and unplug unused electronic devices — do your bit and make a huge difference to saving Earth,” suggested Google’s Earth Day doodle.

A lot has changed since the very first Earth Day in 1970. Back then, America’s most urgent environmental problems were smog and water pollution. In the years since, we’ve made remarkable progress mopping that up, only to confront fresh challenges like global warming and ocean acidification, transforming the atmosphere, for better and worse, reforestation…

As our knowledge of the Earth keeps evolving with each passing year. I am reminded of best new discoveries we’ve made, uncovered new geological features, about this breathing, seething, never-dull planet of ours — the only place in the universe where life is known to exist.

Coachella 2017, added art in high definition to the carouser, music fest most widely known for its megawatt headliners and flower-crowned audience, this year had the candy-colored, sky-scraping visual delights, designed for maximum Instagram appeal.

This year’s four major installations have surpassed 2016’s in size, and they seem to be geared toward pure entertainment for Californians. While there wasn’t any overarching theme, one of the works this year, Gustavo Prado’s “Lamp Beside the Golden Door,” invites selfie-obsessed denizens to look beyond themselves.

The artist created a 35-foot towering apparatus made up of thousands of small mirrors that reflects not just the viewer, but all the people around her. Although it was later shielded from public as it caused a bit of commotion.

Below we have a selection of the best of Coachella’s art scene:

Victoria Beckham awarded an OBE for her services to fashion and charity work at Buckingham Palace by Prince Williams.

On being given the title, Victoria said: “It was an absolute pleasure to be at Buckingham Palace today. I’m proud to be British, honoured and humbled to receive my OBE from the Duke of Cambridge. If you dream big and work hard you can accomplish great things. I’m so happy to share this very special occasion with my parents and husband; without their love and support, none of this would be possible.” (reported by BBC)

As one of the country’s foremost couturiers, Tarun Tahiliani new store at Qutab Garden in New Delhi’s historic Mehrauli area, has found an elegant utterance.

Just like his sari gown, the space marries essentially Indian elements with a contemporary feel that doesn’t feel contrived or oppressively ethnic. “When you walk into my space, I want you to know you’re entering my mind,” he says.

And it’s true, rare blood-red carnelian from Chennai has been fashioned into tabletops, andthe floor is a symphony of earthy-ochre sandstone from Rajasthan strewn with limited-editionTarunTahiliani carpets. The floor-cornices are in flamed granite beveled to mimic those fromChettinad palaces, and the Mughal filigree—the jaali—has been reinterpreted into bronze-patinaed screens that discreetly incorporate his brand’s single-T insignia. Custom-designedZoffany wallpapers for the backdrops of display vitrines, and all these are reflected in vintage,hand-etched mirrors.

It took the designer over seven months—from design to execution—to design the space to hisexacting specifications. As you enter, the foyer opens onto a short, bifurcated stairway that leadsup to the ready-to- wear sections featuring displays of his women’s and men’s collections. Behindthem, an 18 th -century, hand-carved wood facade from Gujarat dominates the stairwell that leadsdown to the haute couture section replete with well-appointed private rooms for trials andlengthy shopping sessions, all illuminated with antique Osler crystal chandeliers. The centerpieceis a filigreed lamp that throws soft, dappled shadows on the ceilingpunctuated with hand-carvedrosettes that could have adorned a palace a century ago.

Even the stairs are studded with flowershand-crafted out of cabochon mother-of- pearl. Each petal—there are a total of 90 flowers with12 individual petals each—took artisans four hours to turn out.

1927-2017, Chanel skincare, already 90 years, when Mademoiselle Chanel applied her new vision of women to cosmetics: a celebration of beauty focused on freedom and comfort.

She created essential skincare products, including HUILE DE JASMIN,recommended for face massages.Pure and simple, HUILE DE JASMIN contains a jasmine extract from fields cultivated exclusively for CHANEL in Grasse. Composed almost entirely of naturally-derived ingredients, its ultra-sensorial formula offers excellent compatibility with skin, infusing it with its benefits.

Moisturizing, nourishing and fortifying, HUILE DE JASMIN is a face oil with revitalizing properties. By helping to protect the skin barrier, it delivers comfort and suppleness to skin. Wrinkles and fine lines look smoothed.

The complexion lights up with a natural glow and a slightly satiny finish. It can be applied as needed: in the morning and/or evening, every day to nourish and protect skin or as an intensive treatment to boost skin vitality, alone or after a serum.

BEAUTY TIP:

Blend a dropof HUILE DE JASMIN with your daily cream, or best applied with foundation for radiance and comfort.
