For FW16/17, Swarovski reaches to stars for its space inspired collection called “Crystal Galaxy”. Through art, architecture, design and movies, the theme of space and galaxy, Creative Director Nathalie Colin was naturally inspired by this stellar influence, and chose to explore it in the collection.

From constellations of stars to planets in orbit, from the colors of the cosmic night to shapes of sparkling icicles, Nathalie captured a kaleidoscope of elements and translated into fashionable pieces featuring modernity, brilliance and remarkable craftsmanship.

Exuding this mysterious appeal of the galaxy, either in a figurative or in a more abstract way, the jewellery pieces are round and 3D volumes, new shapes like double open rings versatile silhouettes in a gradation of shades evoking eclipses, stars and constellations.

With a cold palette of black, midnight blue and frosted clear crystals, the collection offers four variations on the galaxy in an array of versatile pieces to suit any facet of a modern woman’s life.

430Papa Don’t Preach by Shubhika held a fashion preview at Masala Bar recently. The collection consisted of dressy workwear to fun embellished casuals to out ‘n out party wear, from kitsch mehendi half lehengas to girly lehengas embellished with laser cut acrylic hearts, multicoloured sequences and thread work.

Seen a girls transition from day to night and finally into occasion wear in short dresses, crop tops, sarees and lehengas were Amyra Dastur, Amrita Puri, Krystle Dsouza, Mahi Vij, Model Sanea Shiekh and Malini Agarwal to name a few.

Gucci/ Alessandro Michele, unveiled for the first time, cruise collection for men. The collection inspired by the english eccentricity lifestyle is been shot by British Photographer, Nick Waplington.

The lookbook features a distinct-yet-stylish mix of casuals and basics in a variety of materials, with outerwear and its world renowned luggage in the new graphic Caleido pattern. There is a playful use of insect and animal imagery emblazoned on its crewneck sweaters and embroidered onto classic items like a Macintosh, while a knit tiger sweater definitely stands out.

Madhumalti by Anupama Dayal salutes the magnetic seductive aura of the ‘nautch girl’. Filled with elegance, dignity and free spiritedness in an era where these attributes were unattainable for most women.

2

Inspired by the delicate summer blossom, seduced by the fragrance of dainty pink flowers all over the Northern Plains, Madhumalti is tiny and yet, its beauty is immense. The flower, to me, signifies resilience – a trait that I would like to see in women, including my daughter,” says the designer.

The collection consists of brocade blouses, chiffon sarees and Benarasi weaves. Magenta, purple, chrome yellow, green were ubiquitous. So was the attention to detail – the flared shararas, the colourful hangings on the saree pallo, and the borders in the cigarette pants.

Come summers and we start planning a much needed getaway but with every country trying to come out from crisis and currency on the rise, the biggest frustration is to look for exotic yet budget destination which doesn’t leave you strapped for cash.

We bring you a low down of few of the best budget destinations you can look ahead to travel with just about $20 a day –

Ethiopia

EthiopiaIf I told you that my next trip is to an ecologically diverse country, lush and fertile with jungles, rivers, deafening waterfalls, tropical forests and mountain ranges that resemble a mix the Alps and the Grand Canyon, the last place you would probably think of is Ethiopia.

Ethiopia is not only one of the most fascinating countries in the world, but luckily enough also one of the cheapest. There’s so much to see and do, with it’s changing landscapes, history, tribal regions etc

Indonesia

IndonesiaIndonesia, a Southeast Asian nation made up of thousands of volcanic islands, is home to hundreds of ethnic groups speaking many different languages. It’s is known for its beaches, volcanoes and jungles sheltering elephants, tigers and Komodo dragons.

Transport costs can add up if you move around a lot as you will need to take boats or budget flights. But staying in just a few areas you can get beachside wooden bungalow for $7 a night and eat good seafood for $5.

Colombia

ColombiaConsidering its world-class treks, clay-coloured colonial cities, and glistening beaches on offer, it’s surprising Colombia isn’t more popular with travellers. Likely tainted by its outdated reputation for rampant crime, Colombia is in fact a friendly, vibrant country that’s well worth exploring.

Street snacks range from 40 cents – $1 USD, a simple meal will cost about $3+ USD while a fancier meal will be from $6.50+ USD. Water is ~40 cents per bottle, while beer is 65 cents to $1 USD.  Accommodation will cost about $6-$10 USD (approx).

Ukraine

UkraineUkraine is a large country in Eastern Europe known for its Orthodox churches, Black Sea coastline and forested mountains. Its capital, Kiev, features the gold-domed St. Sophia’s Cathedral, with 11th-century mosaics and frescoes.

Due to the current conflict in the east of the country the local currency has seriously devalued making it a great place in Europe to get by on a cheap budget. Head to historic Lviv city and the Carpathian Mountains in the west, or go chill/party on the Black Sea coast.
You can get a tasty rib eye steak for just $3! Beer is on average $1 in the cheaper bars.

Bolivia

BoliviaBolivia is a country in central South America, with a varied terrain spanning Andes mountains, the Atacama Desert and Amazon Basin rainforest. At more than 3,500m, its administrative capital, La Paz, sits on the Andes’ Altiplano plateau with snow-capped Mt. Illimani in the background. Bolivia is breathtaking. Being the poorest country in South America, Bolivia provides the greatest value on the continent, this teeny country has a lot to offer.

Shopaholics can enjoy cheap shopping; One should explore the Witches Market where you can buy a spell or a dead baby alpaca for good fortune.

A meal out at a basic restaurant ranges from $2-$4 USD, while a fancier meal will set you back $7+ USD. Beer is ~$1-$2 USD, and water is ~50-80 cents.
