Attending International Fashion weeks is an experience in itself, especially when you are dealt with graciously and professionally, very unlike of hypocrisy at home. Nevertheless,in its pursuit to stand by its resolve to nurture fresh talent FDCI announced the names of six budding designers who are set to present their collections at India Fashion Week Spring Summer 2016.
One of them being, Love Birds, label for a modern woman who leads an active life. They are keen on dressing the global woman of the metropolitans. Ikai by Ragini Ahuja aims to create incredibly practical clothing with relaxed fits and natural textiles that exude luxury with no hint of pretence.
While Dhruv Kapur’s design employ discreet detailing to create luxurious, timeless, elegant, utilitarian, unisex clothes from fine, natural, locally sourced fabrics. Anavila is centered around comfortable and earthy hand woven textiles that are inspired by nature. On the other hand Shalini James’s label is an exotic potpourri of everything Indian in silhouettes that are sometimes ethnic, sometimes contemporary, and mostly a unique mix of both. Though Nimish Shah is at the stall, has a range of sophisticated separates that are instilled with a sense of modernity to create novel expressions.
This time around IFW will also witness the launch ‘First Cut’, a new initiative for emerging designers that recognises India’s most promising fashion talent. Starting from Example by Moutushi & Rituraj to the Meraki Project, who uses organic cotton, Ikat, linen and silks that are hand woven all over India. Asa is a label that thrives on experiments with textiles, dyes and design, comprising easy and straight-forward silhouettes.
Lola offers clean and uncluttered designs which are a refreshing take on contemporary luxury. Vitasta and Dvibhumi is an accessory brand, with formers motto of everyday luxury that steers clear from the uniformity of mass production while later is an independent label on a simple quest to find a contemporary identity for jewellery rooted in Asian heritage.
India Fashion week SS16 hosted by FDCI will take place between Oct 7 -11, 2015 at NSCI grounds, so situate yourself sooner than the petitioning process .
