G-Star RAW and photographer Ellen von Unwerth have teamed up again to see the return of an intimate group of kindred spirits – bonded like brothers in uniforms of distinct jeans and jackets.

Von Unwerth’s raw, monochromatic style appears made to photograph denim, capturing the texture and attitude of the jeans at G-Star’s core. Booted and laced-up, the group embody the zeitgeist of youth, as magnetically united, as they are fiercely independent. Playing with repetition in poses, the campaign’s military-like visual devices amplify the atmosphere of unity between the models and pay homage to product inspirations.

From clean selvedge denims, to the latest in washing treatments, G-Star’s broad taste in jeans is apparent. Highlighted is the G-Star Elwood jean, the first style constructed using the 3D Denim method and enduringly popular since its release in 1996. Born from the techniques of motorcycle pants, unlike traditional flat patternmaking, 3D Denim uses additional leg panels to form around the body.

The campaign combines familiar faces of the brand, with Camilla Christensen returning following her appearance in the brand’s Spring/Summer ’15 campaign, alongside new additions; Eden Bristowe , Liam Gardner, Sang Woo Kim, Karmay Ngai, Michael Sharp, and Zanna van Vorstenbosch.

1Paco Rabanne will be soon launching a new feminine fragrance under the mythical name of Olympéa and modeled by Brazilian, Luma Grothe. Developed by Loc Dong and Anne Flipo, the perfume is inspired from the modern Greek goddess and evokes strength, dynamism and conquests.

Its salty and floral composition is characterized as fresh oriental, opening with sparkling green mandarin, aquatic notes of water jasmine and fiery ginger lily, with salted vanilla in the heart. The base notes are sandalwood, cashmere and ambergris.2

The bottle which is shaped like a laurel crown, is designed by Marc Ange and is available as 30, 50 and 80 ml Eau de Parfum. Besides the Eau de Parfum edition Olympéa Extrait de Perfum is also launched. It includes exclusive, refined ingredients in a glass bottle designed by Haute-Normandie. To enrich the original formula, Loc Dong combined Arabian Sambac jasmine absolute and Bourbon vanilla extract for a cleaner, warmer and more balmy touch of vanilla available in 30 ml.

Availability – August 2015 onwards

With Raf simons having an emotional connection between clothes and customer that is hard to explain, the latest campaign, that further expands on the brands association with nature is very well captured by Willy Vanderperre.

In Christian Dior’s autobiography he wrote “My childhood home sat on a cliff and lay exposed to the most turbulent of weather.” Raf Simons has translated this into a collection.

Modeled by Julia Nobis, Natalie Westling and Mica Arganaraz, the Dior women staked out of their territory for the Autumn- Winter 2015-2016 campaign. With animal inspired prints covering their clothing and their Diorama bags, their long thigh boots molding like a second skin, and the slashed fabric of their skirts, appeared to melt into a harsh setting, like a new kind of camouflage, one that is feminine and very Dior.

N10420_BASE_SP_OTB_2015_A4.inddBravery is a mindset. Once it is met from within, it can change your life forever. For its iconic Only The Brave Fragrance, Diesel Parfums has delivered an epic new campaign addressing the archetypal theme of bravery that has gripped mankind since history began.

Directed by the award winning Anthony Atanasio and Valerie Martinez, this new film explores what it takes to be brave. Starring internationally renowned actor Liam Hemsworth, the film’s setting is grittily urban. Referencing classical themes, the story unfolds in an arena of dust, a backlit concrete area with monolithic structures, long shadows, distant cities and a sense of emptiness.

Like a meditation on courage, the fragrance has at its foundation strong, warm notes of cedarwood and amber with the tawny sensuality of a leather accord. At the top of these scents is the gleaming freshness of lemon Primofiore oil, fused with mandarin essence and deepened into a profound complexity by the spicy accord of coriander leaves.

Encapsulated into its iconic blue-iced bottle in the form of a clenched fist, it stands as a symbol of an epic generation: Only The Brave.

In London, contemporary fashion archive, Live Archives, has opened an exhibition devoted to the work of the Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto. A live exhibition, where the pieces will be worn by live models demonstrating different ways to wear, as Japan’s noir maestro is famous for creating clothes that can be worn in multiple ways. It is also said that the selection of his pieces will be on sale too.

60 pieces will be put on display at the Mare Street Gallery space – some which date back to the 80s, like an iconic cotton cut-work ensemble from the designer’s SS’83 collection. Yamamoto’s work has been featured in over 40 museum shows since the birth of his brand in 1981 – something that could be considered ironic given that he once said museums are “where fashion goes to die”.

Exhibition Yohji Yamamoto: SHOWSPACE will last until August 8.

1The splendor and glory of the erstwhile days of the Raj is the driving force behind Rimple and Harpreet’s collection Maharajah & Co, at the 2015 edition of the Amazon India Couture Week 2015. The designer duo have used Preciosa crystal components in their collection, in an interesting amalgamation of couture, craft and heritage, which is going to create a sensational splash on the Indian fashion.

Inspired by the Indian Maharajas and the nobles of that era and their lifestyle which was heavily influenced by their travels to the West, the collection is a tribute to an opulent era of high fashion, exotic indulgence and rich statements in regal clothing and accessories.

Malji ka kamra, Churu

It is that time of year when everybody plans to leave for some exotic destinations, cruises, spiritual enlightenment or head towards majestic mountains to rejuvenate one self and get ready for hectic work schedules.

Offlate, international travel has become a trend to hold position in our civilization, not withered with trends or statuses; I was thinking of just getting away from all the glamour (oops), being in fashion the adjectives come handy. This reminds me of an interesting conversation I had with Mr. Deepak Balan (owner Malji ka Kamra, Churu), he was inquisitive to know, what is so Fashionable of Rajasthan that made me explore the world’s oldest, mightiest and aesthetically profound palaces. Well, my answer is, isn’t, vibrant colours, rustic charm, awe-inspiring history mixed with extravagant indulgences of Maharajas, our luxury, which is correlated to fashion!!

1

Although luxury is relative and can mean something different across different societies and cultures, but once you reach Malji ka kamra hotel, which was actually a RangMahal of one of the Marwari Merchant of Churu, is a grand turquoise haveli from 1920s, with some marvelous fresco paintings.Untitled-1

Deepak’s grandfather worked with Malji Kothari a wealthy trader in Churu, tough times resulted in him losing his Rangmahal, which Deepak’s father, a known advocate in Churu fought and won, took painstaking 8 years, only to conceptualize into a heritage hotel with 13 rooms. Reinstating the legacy, the Maharaja room still holds the structural design of that time with a chor darwaja to Maharani Room.

The exotic havelis are dotted throughout the majestic abode of Rajasthan specially the ones of Shekhawati region with captivating stories. I was enthralled by the evident pride that its inhabitant Lal Singh had in his land, however feel sad that it is in ruins.

01With overtly welcoming staff of Malji Ka karma, I was quiet contended with my decision(courtesy Rare Destinations). The vast to discover, Rajasthani cuisine, is a splendid array of unique, rich, colorful, spicy and mouth-watering dishes presumably in desi ghee by Chef Manoj Singh. His style of cooking, is not only the mirror of wealth and prosperity, but also reflects the traditional lifestyle of the region. I still linger the taste of his delectable dishes like daal-baati-churma, Ker-Sangri and Papad ki sabzi to popular non-vegetarian delights like Laal Maas, even his simplest breakfast meal, Poha is worth mentioning, leave apart distinctive methi chutney and refreshing saunf and bel coolers.

While at Malji Ka Kamra, one can have personalized bangles, visit the national award winner of sandalwood craft and the ancient Jain temple with 400 year old Mahavir statue. You can even explore surana and baid havelis, golden haveli and tula ram ka kamra (rang mahal) at Mehansar or Ramgarh Chatris all at 30 mins distance from Churu.

ff

But for times when you see your heritage that leaves your mouth agape and your tongue flapping, a more serious set of definitions should be in order. Thinking, I moved to my next destination, only to come back soon…

…see you in Shahpurabagh
