1Yves Saint Laurent’s couture business remained dormant after its last haute couture collection in Paris 2002. Now recently the fashion house has announced that it is returning to couture.

The brand has released a series of campaign images showcasing the house’s recently renovated couture house, a project started by its creative director, Hedi Slimane. Constructed in 1685, the couture house is located at 24 Rue de l’Université in Paris’s Left Bank. There are two couture ateliers in the new building one for dressmaking called L’Atelier Flou and “L’Atelier Tailleur” for tailoring. With wonderful chandeliers and furniture from Hedi’s personal collection, the atelier will also have a geometric garden, which is a recreation of the garden from the XVII century archives.

The ateliers will also produce hand-made pieces for movie stars and musicians and Hedi will decide which pieces will be labeled with a hand-sewn couture “Yves Saint Laurent” label made of ivory silk. The Atelier will keep a strict record of all couture pieces in a special gold book.

Lately, Shanghai city synonym to luxury added another name to its list with the opening of world’s first full-service, Gucci-themed restaurant besides the café which brand has in Florence.

Named as 1921 Gucci, it took two long years by the Italian fashion house, which was formed in 1921, to open the Shanghai restaurant.Housed on the fourth floor of the IAPM luxury shopping center, guests can only get there by means of an elevator from the Gucci store in the mall. The ambiance is fancy schmancy while diners will get surrounded by velvet, numerous pillows, and everything Gucci, starting from silverware, napkins, and menu.

The menu is more or less Italian. For RMB 150 (approximately US $24), one can indulge on a two-course Italian lunch while RMB 300 (approximately US $48) allows one diner to splurge on a gourmet dinner. The menu includes soup, salad, pasta, meat, and seafood. However, an entire cake runs at a pricier tag with RMB 438 (approximately US $71) for a whole tiramisu and RMB 348 (approximately US $50) for a whole mango cheesecake.

Canali presents its Fall Winter 2015 global advertising campaign, a seamless continuation of the story that began with the runway show, showcasing the key looks of the season for a man who pays attention to detail, who has a strong connection to tradition but who enjoys experimenting his own style.

Neon lights are a recurring theme, representing the geometric motifs of the collection, an homage to the burgeoning Milan of the 1950s and a bridge between tradition and modernity, reflected in refined ensembles that combine contemporary elegance with a luxurious sense of leisure. The 1950’s mood is further accented through the discreet use of iconic mid-century furnishings.

Decisive and graphic lighting draws the eye to the intricate patterns, unique textures and clean-cut silhouettes while an understated palette is illuminated periodically by flashes of petrol blue, ivory and ‘Canali yellow’.

1Mauro Grimaldi has been appointed as Emillio Pucci’s new CEO, to take office from September. Mauro has previously worked with Valentino and Salvatore Ferragamo and currently she is vice president sales, marketing and communications at Elie Saab.
