430SPJ Sadhana School, offered Blessings, a fashion presentation with Krishna Mehta, at the Sophia Bhabha Auditorium.

The collection was a mix of textures from hand painting, tie and dye to shibori with varied effect, derived from unconventional processes in Fushia, orange and reds to the cool tones of indigo , blacks and purples worked upon simplest of natural fabrics like, silk, cotton, linen, chanderi and maheshwari.

The art on every garment showcases the talents and work of our students, said Dr Radhike Khanna. We showed a plethora of techniques, styles and art forms to Mrs Krishna Mehta, who came back with a wide range of expectancy. We were able to creatively modify her conceptions into designs, using the strengths of our students, effectively

Walking the ramp with the beautiful children were the whos who of Mumbai society Rashmi Uday Singh, Sangita Jindal with mother Urmila Kanodia, Tara Sharma, Armaan Jain, Sushil & Falguni Jhaveri  ,M Sammir Dattani, Mr.& Mrs. Manish Goel, Mr. & Mrs. Michael Seibert, the Consul General of Germany,Mr & Mrs Al-Olami, the Kuwaiti counsel general, Devaunshi Mehta amongst many others.

180 2With the onset of the soon approaching Gandhi Jayanti, five designers, namely Aneeth Arora, Sreejith Jeevan, Soumitra Mondal, Gaurav Jai Gupta and Divya Sheth, have designed exclusively to support Indian textiles and craftsmanship.

Speaking of their respective collections, Aneeth Arora, for his label Pero focused entirely on the textile process, with each garment being processed with detailed handwork from craftsmen coming from different parts of India.180 3

Sreejith Jeevan’s Rouka is replete of the beautiful and fragrant flower stringers coming from the lesser known craft traditions and skills of innate Indian cultures.

180 1Soumitra Modal, for his label Marg comes up with the rebirth of classic Indian heritage, comprising some unique weaves, intricate patterns and embroidery techniques. The designer went further traditional, by using some of the most natural and eco-friendly fabrics like jamdani, khadi, silk and cotton.

Designer Gaurav Jai Gupta for his label Akaaro, also presents an exclusive collection of hand-woven fabrics in fulia, lycra, silk, cotton and zari from Bengal, Benaras and Chanderi.200

Last but not the least; Divya Sheth’s collection used some innate natural dyed Ajrakh with on surface hand prints. The designer makes the unique yet experimental attempt of blending the extremely celebratory couture wear with traditional crafts and spiritual souls.

180Thus, each designer paid their respective tributes to Gandhi’s own personal belief in Swadeshi, by creating traditionally Indian, yet exclusive and luxurious garments.

Meanwhile, these collections will be displayed in AZA, the one-stop-shopping destination for all the fashion freak fashionistas.

Karl Lagerfeld’s beloved and highly adored ball of fur, Choupette the cat, is now privileged with an all new accessories line featuring her monster avatar. Having been previously the subject of a book, a holiday makeup line and an entire Chanel collection, the cat is now the inspiration behind an entire accessories collection titled ‘Monster Choupette’.

Under Karl Lagerfeld’s namesake label, the Monster Choupette collection is replete of shoes, leather goods, socks, tee shirts, wallets, key chains and many more. The monster-form of Choupette looks like an adorable loving child of the cat herself, and is highly expected to outburst in the street style fashion market.

The collection will hit the markets this November. We know about Karl, but the buyers’ fondness towards Monster Choupette will be seen!

The French ateliers get prepared rigorously as the Paris Fashion Week hit the grounds on 24th September. After the successfully concluded New York, London and Milan Fashion Weeks, the fashionistas step up with extremely curious minds in Paris. The first day kicked off with fashion labels Anrealage and Anthony Vaccarello. The former’s collection included mostly of structured silhouettes in a classic grey colour palette. The latter on the other hand, kept it a little cooler and funky, showcasing some casual and semi-formal wear in glossy blacks, whites, reds and denim blues.

580Christine Phung, Hood by Air and Jacquemus were amongst the other exhibitors for the day. Christine’s collection was overall very languid and youthful, including some trendy teenage dresses, crop tops, skirts, pants, trousers and gowns. While Hood by Air went with its conventional street styling, showcasing collections filled with drama and mysticism. Meanwhile, Jacquemus was the one responsible for lightening up the mood, with a collection including some over-sized yet feminine ensembles. Bright and flowery colours along with applique stripes prints were at the crux of the collection.

580 1Moving on, Léa Peckre and Yiqing Yin were amongst the other highlights of the show. Both the designers believed in keeping it simple and minimalistic. While Peckre’s collection comprised of sober casual and street wear, Yigin Yin showcased a subtle party wear collection. However, the colour schemes for both the designers included pastel and basic colours like sky blue, bottle green, dull yellow and black to name a few.

Besides, Lucien Pellat, Finet, Corrie Nielson, Pascal Millet, and Dévastée continued with the rest of the first day of the Paris Fashion Week.
