Day 3:

The third day of the Milan Men’s Fashion Week Spring Summer 2015 saw up-market labels like Diesel Black Gold, Emprio Armani, Ports 1961, Gucci, Etro, Andrea Incontri, Canali, N°21 and Fendi among others.

The day opened with Diesel Black Gold showcasing an exclusive formal and semi-formal wears for men, with a sleek fit concentration. With a visible priority given to the skinny men, the designer styled the garments accordingly with additional taste of class and glamour. The colour palette was pretty restricted, including black, bright red, off white, beige, grey and denim blue. The collection was replete of suits which could be worn at formal office events, as well as out on a date or a party, some youthful cardigans, denim and sporty leather jackets as well as long coats. The novelty was the hot red pants, a rare choice among males.

Following whom entered the very luxurious Emporio Armani with a very dramatically set up runway, with a glass ramp and dark background. The collection comprised some easy to wear classy looking half-sleeved sweaters, jackets, coats and cardigans. Dominated by the basic colours of black, white and grey, the collection also included metallic finished shirts and striped leather jackets which were given a very sporty look. Also displayed were the brand’s efficient bulky leather handbags, an ideal daily wear requirement of the office-goers. Merging block prints, stripe prints, checks, with minimal amount of zippers and buttons, listed as the embellishments. The designer clearly wanted to give a cool-dude inspiration through his collection this time.

Next up, Gucci came up with a light and soothing runway arrangements, accompanied by a collection that outshone among all other designers. Zebra strip prints was a feature common to every single garment, which were accessorised by the brand’s excellent wide-strap sling bags. Speaking of the variegated colour scheme, it included some novel colours like mild turquoise blue, hottest red, plain white, denim blue and metallic black. All in all, the carefully fitted suits, long coats, sweaters and garments stood up to the brand’s popularity for providing luxury and glamour.

Speaking of Fendi, the designer set up a street look at the run way, with model dressed in causal attires, carrying the brand’s productive hand bags, wallets and travel bags. In coordination with the street look, the designer selected the cool, comfortable and airy floaters which give the sense of casualness and carefree living. Colour palette was diversified, including red, smudged sky blue, dull grey, white, and ink blue. One particular attraction, outshining the

This designer is the personification of urban contemporary and is responsible for bringing to India what is currently known as men’s fashion. She pursed her graduation from Presidency College followed by a Master’s degree in Philosophy, from Kolkata University. Having little knowledge about professional designing, the designer, through her personalised philosophy of fashion, created a distinctive line of men’s wear.

Having completed as much as two decades in the extremely dynamic fashion world, Sharbari promised to not break out of her trend for creating garments for men with an inventive fusion of different art traditions, and strictly avoids repetition. However, last year, she did take the bold step of stepping out of her clichéd limitations, and expanded her scale to designing exclusive traditional sarees for women by introducing her first ever feminine collection, which was worn and appreciated by Bollywood celebrities like Vidya Balan.

Meanwhile, the designer’s experiences till present include her being facilitated as Revivalist Designer by Be Yu fashion award. Besides, she also made some grand public appearances by participating at the Kolkata Fashion Week, thereby display her collection to a wider audience among other fellow leading designers of the industry. Moreover, her creations been worn by MF Hussain, Sachin Tendulkar, Saurav Ganguly, Akshay Kumar and Abhishek Bachchan.

Henceforth, the designer is clearly individualistic where she refuses to retail out of any leading designer studios in the country. She exclusively sells her collection through her retail studio in Kolkata alone.

Day 2 :

The second day of Milano Moda Uomo P/E 2015 had some noted designers showcasing their collections. From Daks , Prada, Antonio Marras, Moncler Gamme Bleu, Missoni, Tod’s, Vivienne Westwood, Calvin Klein, Salvatore Ferragamo, John Richmond, Iceberg and with Bottega Veneta having Pulled back hair, headbands, loose relaxed silhouettes giving a gym-tastic look to the show.

The day’s beginning was an epic beginning with Bottega Veneta garden, the collection has strong descriptions in bonded lamb silk pull-on pants, cashmere faded jacquard sweaters, calf suede soft crocodile duffels.

Miuccia Prada’s show was conservative, said she for her latest menswear. Setting standards for Milan Fashion week she showcased on a cobalt-coloured ankle-deep pool with a brown carpet at the water’s edge.

The clothes were classic in somber colour palette, occasion wear from the late 60s and early 70s featuring brown car coats, moss-green trousers neither skinny nor wide which stopped at the ankle, shrunken V-neck jumpers, buttoned-up blue shirts and no ties. It had chunky visible parallel stitching on the pockets and trouser seams, some with real pockets, some merely meant to look like pockets where “stitches” were actually embroidery.Prada also showcased womenswear in the form of buttoned-through dresses and heeled loafers.

While Salvatore Ferragamo Spring/Summer 2015 agenda was sentimental elegance in an aqueous blue-green, in earthier tones of rust, gray, brown and beige. Missoni collection was inspired by the bohemian surfer, Antonio Marras, Calvin Klein too showcased the balance of style, luxury and comfort.

Menswear seems is moving away from more rigid templates towards a fresh, new, easier take on elegance inspired by younger wardrobes but embellished with luxurious fabrics and stylish details.

Love Brand has hired South African born singer Gina Kushka as the face of its first Women Collection.

The new line is a wide selection of 6 block colours in line with the label’s philosophy of state-of-the-art fabrics, all in aid of endangered elephants. Each is available across 5 sizes (6, 8, 10, 12 and 14).

For Tomalin, Creative Director, “Gina is very natural in person and on camera. She is just a very cool and very beautiful person and without really trying. Being our face was an absolute no-brainer”.

“I feel very honoured to be the first face of the Women Collection. Being brought up in Africa, the conservation and care for animals has been a huge part of my life since birth, so this partnership feels like it was fate!” said Gina during presentation.

Till 10 August 2014, the international exhibition curated by the Victoria and Albert Museum, London is shown at the Martin-Gropius-Bau, Berlin. The exhibition honours Bowie’s progressive approach through an immersive audio-visual design which fuses image and sound into a unique experience.

David Bowie explores the many-sidedness of the musical innovator and cultural icon. More than 300 objects show how Bowie’s works influenced and were influenced by movements in art, design, film, theatre and contemporary culture.

60 stage costumes are presented, including the Ziggy Stardust jumpsuit designed by Freddie Burretti (1972), Kansai Yamamoto’s extravagant designs for the Aladdin Sane tour (1973) as well as the iconic Union Jack coat that Bowie designed together with Alexander McQueen.

Due to Bowie‘s close ties to the city, the exhibtion’s stop in Berlin is one of the highlights of its international tour.  The exhibition section on the German capital was expanded. Around 60 new objects, many of which are on public display for the first time in Berlin, were added. They include sketches for record covers, drawings and paintings by David Bowie, song lyrics and photographs. Bowie was strongly drawn to German Expressionism. Works by artists of the art movement “Die Brücke” demonstrate Bowie’s connection of Expressionist creative forms with his own artistic endeavours in Berlin.
