Recognizing the extraordinary design excellence in womenswear, menswear, accessories, as well as accomplishments in journalism, creative vision, and lifetime achievement, the 2014 CFDA Fashion Awards will be hosted by film director and screenwriter John Waters on Monday, June 2 at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center.

The annual event recognizes the outstanding contributions made to American fashion by individuals, and for the first time, W features ensembles from all of the designers including accessories nominee Alexander Wang, men’s wear nominee Public School, women’s wear nominee Marc Jacobs, amongst others.

With the onset of the European Fashion Weeks soon approaching, London, Paris and Milan are likely to expect an exciting amount of visitors, world’s biggest designers and their freaky fashionista fans. However, they can face a little interruption with reference to their stay in these cities, in conclusion to the unacceptable penal codes ruled by the country of its funding owner.

The Dorchester Group of Hotels include some popular and hospitable venues, namely Hotel Principe di Savoia in Milan and Le Meurice in Paris and the Beverly Hills Hotel in California, under its realm. However, these hotels are run by the investment fund of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, who belongs to a region where gay sex and adultery are meted out with harsh treatments.

Henceforth, the major representatives of the fashion world have taken a stand to boycott these hotels specifically, during the fashion weeks. Having been the favourite residing places of visitors for almost a decade, Dorchester faces a huge fall in its economy.

Moreover, people have also started protesting for the cause, with designers Brian Atwood and Peter Som boycotting the hotels on the social media platforms like Instagram.

Regardless of the potential business impact that the boycott is going to have not only on its team members, but also on its partners and suppliers, the usual Dorchester guests have initiated their search for other hotels in the city, until a justifiable ruling is passed out.
