KW’s spring eyewear campaign casts Kenyan crafts people and highlights poverty-stricken African regions, working with the United Nations’ Ethical Fashion Initiative to produce unique pouches made by Kenyan artisans .

The Ethical Fashion Initiative aims to promote fair and sustainable business by bringing together craftspeople and international brands to produce products. Walker’s collection will see each pair of sunglasses come with a screen-printed pouch made by Kenyan artisans from local materials, with elaborate beaded styles.

Sotheby’s will be exhibiting for the first time in India works by Andy Warhol, Gerhard Richter and David Hockney. Open to the public from the 31stJanuary 2014, at the Imperial Hotel, New Delhi. The exhibition is been designed to allow Indian collectors to view selected highlights from Sotheby’s forthcoming London sale of Contemporary Art alongside highlights from its New York sale of Modern and Contemporary South Asian Art.

The Contemporary highlights include a rare and only recently rediscovered early David Hockney portrait (Est. £150,000-200,000), an iconic Andy Warhol Dollar Sign from the collection of Jade Jagger (Est. £180,000-250,000), and a captivating work by leading Chinese artist Zao Wou-Ki (Est. £300,000-400,000).

The highlights on view from the Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art sale are all fresh to the market and come from a number of distinguished American and European private collections. They include Buffalo among Flower Bed, an important landscape by Bhupen Khakhar (Est. $150,000-200,000), Maqbool Fida Husain’s dynamic canvas Untitled (Three Horses) (Est. $100,000-150,000), and Ram Kumar’s early abstract Untitled (Est. $80-120,000).

Brit Rhythm for women is the brand’s first female in-house fragrance since taking its beauty business in April 2013. British model and actress Suki Waterhouse features in the campaign alongside British musician George Barnett of These New Puritans.

Brit Rhythm for Women fragrance combines powerful femininity, bringing together classic and unexpected notes in a new powdery floral fragrance. A rush of British lavender, an intoxicating orange blossom heart and a deep vetiver baseline, the smoked pink juice is feminine and effortlessly sensual.

The iconic glass bottle with contrasting textures, mirrors the unexpected combination of the scent notes.

Daniele Cavalli has left his family’s eponymous label, as menswear creative director for the brand, to be taken over by his father. This major change comes after Cavalli’s CEO Gianluca Brozzetti and COO Carlo Di Biagio recently stepped down from their roles.

Speculations were also ripe that the label could soon to be up for sale – after The Financial Times reported that the Italian fashion house is in talks with London private equity group Permira to buy a majority stake in the company. Although a spokesperson from Cavalli rubbished the reports.

Fashion, Gossip, Glitz, Tears and finally the Lovely Lady in Gold is what defines the Awards Season in Bollywood. Google Search is fast becoming an imminent part of this anticipation and analyzed the fashion search trends and revealed the season’s most searched fashion trends for the year.

The red carpet of every award ceremony establishes the fashion trends for the year to some. Following the searches in the nomination categories, there also emerged trends on the “best dress” or which attire caught people’s attention this year. Sarees, the evergreen attire of Indian women tops the chart with maximum number of searches when compared to other outfits. Be it bling, sheer or kanjiveram – all types of sarees were a hit this award season. This was closely followed by Anarkali suits and the red carpet saw many Bollywood divas such as Sonali Bendre, Divya Dutta, Tanisha Mukherjee dressed up to the nines in their elaborate and sequined suits. Gowns, a popular choice of dressing this award season comes at number 3 followed by Tuxedos, the leading choice for men.

Hairstyles sported at Bollywood awards also become the talk of the town and is reflected in Google search trends. Topping the list is the classic hair bun which saw a number of variations such as the top knot bun, side bun, messy bun or braided bun – all being the popular choice amongst bollywood divas.

Hair puffs were on number two followed by French braid on number three. Fourth on the list were Hairbangs, popularized by style icons such as like Priyanka Chopra and Aditi Rao Hydari with hair accessories on number five, completing the look for many on the carpet.

New York Fashion Week has become more important for emerging or lesser known brands than for established ones. Big names can afford to show off-site while less established designers, if they can afford it, try to get a spot in Lincoln Center.

This season as many as 10 designers, who have never shown at the Lincoln Center before are; Creatures of the Wind, Georgine, Hernan Lander, Lie Sang Bong, Meskita, Raoul, Skingraft, Tome, Jay Godfrey, and Rebecca Vallance.
