This season of Lakme Fashion Week will see an ethereal combination of designs and silhouettes from their leading designers Ritu Kumar, Payal Singhal, Rocky S, Shruti Sancheti as we caught them during fitting sessions. While Krishna Mehta will be bringing various craft forms and textile traditions of Manipur on the Indian Textile Day, 26th August at the upcoming fashion week.

KRUHUN, by Shantanu Goenka for LFW W/F, casts an enchanting spell on the collection. Dipped in gold and black, every ensemble tells a story of its own, with a unique personality and the spirit of individuality.

The collection meaning black brings out the best from the designers embroidery archives. Impeccable sequin sheeting, age-old zardosi which is both extremely fine and delicate, and the eye twitching kashmiri tilli bring the collection together. Apart from the traditional techniques, laser cut appliqué, textured brocades, velvets, and sequin cutwork add a different dimension to the ensembles.

An eclectic mix of men’s and women’s wear, ‘Kruhun’ draws inspiration from old India, Persia and Middle Eastern influences. Breezy anarkalis, asymmetrical jackets, farshi pyjamas and beautifully embroidered sarees dominate the women’s wear silhouettes, while the menswear mainly consist of transparent chogas teamed with fluid pyjamas and jodhpuris, with waistcoats completing the look.

This season at LFW W/F 2013, Delhi based designer Ranna Gill debuts with her resort inspired collection.

The Collection draws inspiration from her Tropical love- palm trees, elephants and photographic patterns in sensual lace and sheer.  Finer details include embroidered textures, beads and sequins making the ensemble much more transcendent.

The compendium has an array of bold colors such as vivid oranges, neon yellows, and sea greens along side the use of flower prints beautifully placed in each design. The use of net, lace, chiffon and georgette compliment the silhouetteflattering the female curves of any woman. Silhouettes are free-spirited. Shift dresses, flowy maxis, tunics, swim-suits in shades of blue, vibrant varieties of coral, citrus yellow, parrot green, fuchsia, bright mango along with an amalgamation of white and neon.

Designer Rajat Tangri will travel back to the era marking the end of antiquity and the rise of renaissance for his winter/ festive collection to be showcased at Lakme Fashion Week 13 on 24th August at 3pm.

Representing a gothic look, the collection features versatility and contrast. The designer has extensively used hues like red, emerald and gold coalesce with black slate and teal to create red carpet silhouette.

Actor Randeep Hooda will walk the ramp in his creations and actress Shilpa Shetty and Sushmita Sen will also be seen cheering the designer.

Lecoanet Hemant has captured the essence of French casual dressing along with Indian tribal nuances for his winter/festive 2013 women’s wear collection. Ancient tribal techniques of weaving and printing like the ‘Chaarpai’ weave and dots and stripes inspired by Henna designs highlight the collection.

The collection features a range of dresses, jackets, skirts and pants purpose in colours like deep blue, maroon, white, black, brown and grey. Fabrics like Leather, Tweed, Wool and Fleece have given a sophisticated look to the pieces. The silhouette and construction of the coats and dresses are such that they give the allusion of looking like one another.

In Kommal Sood’s signature style of glamorous chic meets elegance, the designer presents her Fall/Winter 2013-14 collection “Phoenix in Paradise”. Inspired by the spirit of the legendary Phoenix bird, the collection celebrates the mythical bird’s happy times in paradise.

With that muse and spirit, the collection showcases an assortment of ensembles, ranging from separates like skirts, shorts, tops and jackets, to cocktail dresses and evening gowns. Bold colors, inspired by the flaming colors of the Phoenix, have been contrasted and mixed captivatingly in fabrics, embellishment, and sheeting sequin embroidery.

Her identity is her designs which are reflection of her thoughts, ideas and beliefs. An alumnus of Pearl Academy of Fashion, Atithi Gupta is a playful young designer, known for her commendable and stylish designs.

Her label ‘Atithi Gupta’ started in 2010 is about enhanced body freedom, comfort and function. The collection bears an elaborate imaginative direction that leads to a well-designed and linear work of art. Her designs have been graced by celebrities like Huma Qureshi and Madhuri Dixit.
