Inspired by the chill weather and mountains of Shillong, designer Daniel Syiem presents his latest winter collection ‘Ka Tlang’ for LFW winter/festive 2013.

Using rich earthy tones, the designer has made interesting coats and jackets, sophisticated skirts, beautiful and classy shift dresses, clean-cut long dresses and fitted sarongs in natural hand-woven fabrics like Ryndia and Tapmohkhlieh. The collection stands out due to unique use of checks, collar and sleeve detailing and innovative designs.

Delhi Based Designer, Pawan Sachdeva is a graduate from NIFT. With his unique sensibilities and smart innovations, he has created a niche for himself. The designer is recognized for his distinctive style and language which gives his garments a formidable quotient.

His personality reflects in his label ‘Pawan Sachdeva’, known for its beautiful designs combining Indian craftsmanship with western sensibilities. A tasteful mix of beachy off-whites, neon-greens, bright-corals, sunny-yellows, quirky turquoises, and electric blues rules the color-story in her signature Kaftans, with never-before-seen belts, slits, and edgy embroidery along with saris, tunics, gowns, mini-dresses, swimsuits, jumpsuits, crop-tops with high waist pants and skirts, flowy dresses and jackets.

While menswear will include kurtas, churidar pants, 3/4th shorts, pants, scarves, and shirts in unique and bold prints.

Join us this season as Debarun’s Festive Collection 2013,delving into a classical theme, he finds solace in stories where we know the start and have lived the end many times over. In this collection Debarun finds inspiration in the oft repeated lore which seems to end…like always or as they say ba-dastoor.

Debarun has used a colors palette comprising of beige, ivory, red and nude tones symbolizing the essence of Ba-Dastoor in its classical ethos and ethereal fee.  The fabrics are tassar silk, cotton kora, viscouse silk, velvets and matka silks in sarees, lehengas, layered dresses and churidar suits. As for the silhouettes Debarun choose to vary it across classic and neo-classical Indian reinstating the elegance, while ensuring that it remains timeless and across the ages.

For the men, Debarun has chosen short jackets teamed with kurtas, band gala’s, long flared coats and sherwani, leveraging on Debarun’s strength at synchronising the structured geometric motifs with the fluency of traditional motifs, the combination highlights the eternal feel of Ba-Dastoor traversing across time from the past and seamlessly merging into the present.

A wide variety of techniques including block prints, over-dying, hand embroidery and applique has been Debarun’s choice for this collection using an aged and matt finish to highlight the influence of the classical while infusing it with the contemporary.

Young and dynamic designer Astha Narang unveils her winter festive collection drawing inspiration from the Canyon and its structure and artist Goran Konjevod, who develops forms from 2D material and uses folding techniques of heat set and creates 3D obscure shapes.

This edition of her winter line celebrates vintage feminity by giving an Indian touch to international silhouettes using thread and metal embroidery. Embroidery on drapes is combined with heavy and royal fabrics like suede and silk giving it a voluptuous, rich touch.

For the first time in Mumbai, Kala Raksha Vidhyalaya showcased the impact of education and the creative capacity of traditional artisans with a unique fashion show, presenting ready-to-wear pieces by artisan design graduates of KRV, inspired by the garment silhouettes of renowned fashion designer Anju Modi. Taking inspirations from each other, men weavers, printers, batik and bandhani artists and women embroiderers have worked together for this show.

The artisans showcasing their incredibly rich and nuanced handmade ensembles were accompanied by designers like Anita Lal, Anjana Somany and Anuj Modi on the ramp.
