Lately, the Italy-based luxury fashion house Gucci joined hands with actress Salma Hayek Pinault and singer Beyoncé Knowles, to launch a new global campaign ‘Chime for Change’, to raise funds and awareness for girls’ and women’s empowerment.The initiative was launched by Salma Hayek at TED 2013 where she presented the first of ten Chime for Change short films, with music by Beyoncé and narration by the actress herself. The film that tells the story of Nigerian democracy activist Hafsat Abiola is an extended trailer for The Supreme Price, a 2012 Gucci Tribeca Documentary Fund recipient and winner of the Spotlighting Women Documentary Award.

The campaign serves to convene, unite and strengthen voices speaking out of girls and women around the world and will focus on three key pillars – education, health and justice. Moreover, it also aims to encourage people throughout the world to support girls’ and women’s projects in a personalized individual way.

About the campaign Gucci Creative Director and Chime for Change co-founder Frida Gianni said, “This is the emergency and the opportunity of today. We have reached a significant moment in the history of girls’ and women’s empowerment and now is the time for change. I think it is essential for girls and women to see and celebrate what is possible. I hope that through Chime we can help the voices calling for change to become so loud that they cannot be ignored.”

For all the dog lovers out there the London-based department store Harvey Nichols unveils its adorable Spring Summer 2013 campaign featuring three big hounds.

The new campaign titled, ‘The New Breed’ features three big sized dogs being carried in bags by 3.1 Phillip Lim, Marc by Marc Jacobs and Sophie Hulme. The campaign has been shot by acclaimed photographer Miles Aldridge, and styled by Harry Lambert. The pictures which have flooded the London’s billboards also feature in store’s own magazine.

Inspired by the glamour and baroque style of the 1920’s combined with the bohemian look of the 70’s, Raat ki Rani celebrates the spirit of a playful femme fatale. The joie de vivre of the jazz age mingles with the vibe of the disco era in a vibrant, energetic collection that reflects the flirtier side of the ‘Nikasha’ woman’s persona in her forthcoming show at WIFW AW13.

True to her signature aesthetic, the collection explores Nikasha’s core work and goes further in-depth in the woman she likes to portray – experimental, empowered and sensual. Her rooted desi-ness is injected with a dose of glamour in its shapes where the embellishments are bolder and the mood is stronger, in distinctive styles like sharara jumpsuits, choli-tanks, dhoti-skirts, mini-kurtas, sadri-waistcoats and kanjari-vests – modern interpretations of traditional and historic costumes.

The jaw-dropping Manish Arora’s Fall Winter 2013 collection, with jewels by Amrapali, as showcased recently in Paris, will make its way to the Grand Finale of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week in New Delhi.

The collection comes with a Rajasthani twist on Manish’s experience by his last visit to Burning Man in Nevada, exploring a unique fusion of heritage of Indian craftsmanship and conceptual design.

The Autumn Winter 2013 by Manish features geometric motifs and borders created translating the psychedelic mirage forms from Burning Man with lustrous holographic stones, matt gold, lacquer coating and beads. The colour palette comprises of shades of blue from the sky with a wide use of black, navy blue and green as the base along with the stimulants of metallic gold.

While the complementing jewellery collection includes traditional ring designs which have been enhanced and gracefully illuminated by addition of bold coloured stones, cuffs and necklaces with detailed application of enamel in vibrant coloured geometric designs and an element of play with turban jewels, nose rings and haslis (traditional necklace of Rajasthan) adding to the opulence.

The flamboyantly versatile fashion designer Marc Jacobs, who by the way happens to appear all tattooed in Diet Coke’s new campaign, shows up wearing lace dress sporadically, and somehow habitually manages to hog the limelight, is all game to hit the big screen now.

The New York based fashion designer will be seen in an independent film titled ‘Disconnect’, revolving around online bullying. The thriller concocted of interconnected stories shows Marc in sort of a shady character (as can be seen in the trailer of the movie bound to hit theatres this April 12.). The film also stars Jason Bateman, Alexander Skarsgard, Paula Patton and Max Thieriot.

At the upcoming Autumn Winter 2013 edition of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week, designer duo Abraham & Thakore will be presenting their latest collection titled ‘Shaadi Redux’.

The show being sponsored by The Development Commissioner Handlooms, Ministry of Textiles in New Delhi will see the designer duo reinterpreting traditional dressing into a sleek 21st century bridal wardrobe for a contemporary Indian woman.
