With the predicted ubiquity of color emerald throughout 2013, as Pantone recently announced it as the color of the year, Timex cashes in on this global trend forecast to launch an emerald studded timepieces designed by Tarun Tahiliani.

The symbol of tranquility and peace, the emerald green stones are studded along with China CZ stones and Swarovski crystals in this range of India inspired timepieces beautifully designed by couturier Tarun Tahiliani.

The green studded watches meant to accentuate Indian women’s beauty and elegance are priced at Rs 23, 995 and Rs 12, 945.

The forthcoming Summer Resort 2013 edition of Lakme Fashion Week, scheduled from 22nd to 26th March, 2013 will see four fresh faces – Pallavi Singh, Bhumika Arora, Radhika Nair and Sangya Lakhanpal – walking the runway.

Joining the league of the likes of Katrina Kaif, Mugdha Godse and Yana Gupta these four models were selected amongst 76 aspiring models from around the globe. The models were evaluated on an array of parameters like poise, confidence, personality and their ability to embody the designer’s vision on runway by a jury panel comprised of the names like Neeta Lulla, Lubna Adams, Anu Ahuja, Alison Kanuga and Nonita Kalra.

Speaking about the model auditions, Purnima Lamba, Head- Lakme, Innovations said, “As the pioneer in the Indian beauty and cosmetic industry, Lakme’ believes in encouraging new talent and providing them with opportunities to showcase their potential. This season’s auditions attracted several exciting new faces and I’m happy that we were able to discover models with the poise and elegance worth of the runway at Lakme Fashion Week. Each of these models represents the confidence, creativity and beauty that Lakme as a brand stands for.”


Fashion Forward, a key initiative by British Fashion Council has been awarded to three new young British womenswear designers for two consecutive seasons from Autumn Winter 2013 – David Koma, Holly Fulton and Michael Van Der Ham.

Established in 2009 Fashion Forward helps to provide funding to talented emerging British designers to show and develop their businesses in London. The award provides the winner with a monetary prize to assist in showing their collection as well as access to business support provided by the British Fashion Council.

About winning the sponsorship designer David Koma commented, “I am delighted to have been awarded Fashion Forward sponsorship and be a part of the ongoing support from the British Fashion Council as this backing will allow me to take my brand to a new level. I am excited about what the future holds and this is a great way to start the year off.”
 

In one-of-its-kind collaboration designer Alexander Wang has teamed up with electronic giant Samsung to create a limited-edition bag inspired by sketches and photos produced by a group of stylists and photographers selected by the designer.

The selected clique will use Samsung Galaxy Note II to create the pictures which will be further used by the designer to create the print on the bag. The proceeds from the sale of the bag which will hit the market this summer will be donated to AstStart, a New York based charity working to hone the creative talents at-risk children and adults.

In an interview to WWD, Alexander Wang said, “I am most inspired from my everyday life and the people that surround me, so the idea of a co-creation with the people that I admire and respect the most is very exciting. The collaboration represents a new way that technology and style can come together.” 

And as February 23, 2013 dawns upon the prestigious Grosvenor House Hotel of London, designer Manish Malhotra will be making his UK catwalk debut at a Gala Charity Fundraiser in aid of The Angeli Foundation, a charity that works to empower the girl child in India.

Manish who is showcasing in association with The Rivaage Boutique selected The Angeli Foundation as the charity of choice for his UK launch after the horrific rape of Jyoti Singh Pandey in Delhi that highlighted the shocking inequality and attitudes towards women in our country.

The event is likely to be attended by a host of special celebrity guests from the worlds of international film, fashion and entertainment, with some very exciting surprise stars appearing on the catwalk. Proceeds from ticket sales and an exclusive live auction will go to two specific projects run by The Angeli Foundation – the Gayatri Education Programme which provides girl students with the skills they need to succeed and Mobile Medical Clinics to visit girl’s schools and provide heath checks on a regular basis.

About this special charity catwalk designer Manish Malhotra says, “I work in an industry where women are revered and respected. I have had the privilege of dressing some of the most beautiful and powerful women in the world, but when I step out of the door into the stark reality of the streets, I see the injustice and inequality all around me.” 

He continues, “The Angeli Foundation is providing an invaluable service to these girls and women. The charity helps them raise their self-esteem, confidence and ultimately value themselves enough to get a voice. Without women, I wouldn’t be where I am today and so I want to give what I can back to an organisation like Angeli that celebrates womanhood.”

The internationally renowned designer Narciso Rodriguez has been named as the ambassador of No Finer Feeling global marketing campaign by International Woolmark Company.

The campaign will throw light on the versatility of merino wool as fiber. In addition to it, the designer will be seen using merino wool in his two upcoming collections. The selected merino wool pieces to be displayed at Rodriguez’s fall show at New York Fashion Week will carry the Woolmark logo. 

The designer who is now the ambassador of No Finer Feeling campaign joins the league of designers like Vivienne Westwood, Giorgio Armani, Alexander Wang and Marc Jacobs will remain associated with the Australian brand till spring 2014.
 
The high-street European brand Vero Moda presents its Spring Summer 2013 collection featuring catwalk trends to relaxed casual wear and flamboyant club.

The collection spelling eclecticism is done in the softest hues of pink, yellow, green, blue and white narrating a spring story. This true summer look has a range of sophisticated summer dresses, blouses, tunics and summer skirts, adorned with the play of textures of beading, ombres, tie & dye prints, lace detailing and subtle neon hints teamed up with washed denims. 

The fabrics are light and feminine with silk, satin, organza and sheer taking Centre stage. The abundance of floral elements and play of black and white are the hallmarks of the collection.

At the recently organized 11th Annual Stardust Awards in Mumbai Bollywood actress Bipasha Basu looked every bit of a diva in the lime silk strapless Gucci Spring Summer 2013 gown with flounce detail – accessorized by an elaborate jadau necklace from Amrapali. Falling in the league of Bollywood stars wearing Gucci on red carpet was Poorna Jagannathan who wore a black silk halter neck Gucci gown with vintage Yves Saint Laurent shell earrings.

In the same awards ceremony Richa Chadda was seen donning a powder grey color trail gown from the Autumn Winter 2012 couture collection of Amit GT. All true to her ethnic style, Vidya Balan chose Amrapali two-tone chandelier earrings with her Sabyasachi saree while ‘Ishaqzaade’ star Parineeti Chopra appeared in her Manish Malhotra ensemble which she chose to pair with a simple sliver ring from Tribe by Amrapali.

The dazzle of jewellery also came as a stunner as stars like Yami Gautam, Esha Gupta, Chitrangda Singh and Jacqueline Fernandes rocked vintage jewellery pieces varying from Swarovski to Christian Dior.
