Trussardi’s SS13 collection is all inspired from the downtown American streets. Umit Benan who is more famous and particular with mens wear is still trying to fix his identity for the women’s collection. Yellow double breasted suit with white shirt, very loose yellow dress, off white sleeveless top with yellow skirt, snake leather shrug with blue dress, blue leather long jacket this seems more killer contract women .

What fascinates me the most is the eye wears that damn stylish and can be cool for a summer evening or party look. Off course to add to the brands specialty Umit added some nice leather shoulder and briefcase bags.
The Marni collection is a mix of colorful vibrant graphical dress with skirt, maxi dress and a clean futuristic look. Though to me many are quite similar to the collection Marni made for H&M.  Still at certain part of the collection its pale uniform pastel look like bottle green dress with baby pink shirt, plain white dress with pant, black croco printed dress with skirt, beige long jacket with vibrant orange skirt, black rubber printed v neck dress.

And off course the structured typical marni leather hand bags with all around zip. But it was the space feeling that had clearly captured Castiglioni’s imagination this season, which was represented in various ways of her interest.
I can say we are in the south of Italy now, forget for a while contemporary and minimalism. It is all colorful raffia, umbrella stripes dresses, printed dresses with street theatre characters. Dolce has returned to his home town go get the serious feel of his city and tradition.

Well through some time they have been hitting success with their basket style bags, use of cane and organic material are a trend setting elements from the designer duo. But I am bit curious that the style is not too much for the city chic and modernity, never the less they are almost predictable with this look. I hope in the upcoming seasons there will be something more un-obvious.

THilfiger Stores for Kidshe lucrative kidswear market made Tommy Hilfiger India open its two childrenswear stores in Mumbai of late.

The hip American brand hosted an in-store event with Olympic medalist Mary Kom and her twins Rechungvar and Khupneivar to celebrate the opening of the stores at the Palladium Mall and Breach Candy in Mumbai.

The interiors of the stores are designed to reflect Tommy Hilfiger’s iconic American roots and preppy heritage. Traditional wood paneling and Ithaca striped wallpaper in preppy blue tones feature throughout. Playful touches such as vintage furniture and unique artwork provide a youthful backdrop to the Classic American Cool spirit embodied by the brand.

The stores house Tommy Hilfiger Fall/Winter 2012 childrenswear collection inspired by the quintessential young American prepster. THilfiger Stores for Kidshe collection for children in between ages of 3 months to 12 years features letterman sweaters, sporty rugby polo and broken-in denims for boys whereas for girls there are blazers, ribbon trimmed tees and colorful skirts with argyle prints.

On the occasion, Mary Kom said, “As a parent, I am thrilled that Tommy Hilfiger has launched childrenswear stores here in Mumbai. South Mumbai finally has international shopping destinations for children. The Fall/Winter collection looks youthful and vibrant with classic Tommy Hilfiger styles infused with the brand’s preppy signature.”

Manuela Arcari’s went to make the collection very clean, with the use of very less color options and used very substantial fabrics like gazar silk, canvas, and duchesse cotton, which hold those silhouettes. And she strips away any superfluous detail until all that is left is the bare essentials.  The pastel green shaded V neck dress, off white with black panel jacket, off white round neck mini dress, black jumper suit and almost a similar black leather with tweed jacket. Though to me it’s the most far in thought collection this season in Milan, but what fascinates me the most is the shoes the all black look with organic cuts. Finally, ending with a brown long jacket along black piping, white and brown thick stripe dress.
Being a designer myself I have a very soft corner for Jil Sander, especially when she herself is back to design the collection after eight years. The collection is so clean and si-fi, you can’t expect to be better than this, the minimalistic and simplified atmosphere is seen from the white runway background, to the color blocks and silhouettes. The feel of the collection looks so intellectual; feels like the women are astronaut’s wife or comes straight from a space job. It doesn’t have this typical metallic silver padded or space suit shape but yet it seems so clinical.

The combination of blue with white, maroon with white along red contrast pants, black skirt with white full sleeve t shirt and a simple panel of black at the bust, an asymmetric maroon with white color panel look, a total black look with white shoes and white dress with rubberized polka. The hair style remain clean and similar for all the look, the silhouette of the shoes is also same for all the looks except the change in colors, some small clutch bags adding the total look feeling.

Marras was very clear with his inspiration this season the out spoken Vivian girls trying to be elegance and sober, Vivian Girls, named after the magnum opus of outsider author Henry Darger . Of course it is a pop up culture with flowery and mushy. The colors is sweet and romantic, with the make up and hair very pop Goth; the silhouette looks very 70’s dresses, neck lines and empire lines.

Mid sleeve off white dress with digital floral prints, pop Hollywood styling – to me it looks the girls and society from the film edward scissorhands. Some military camouflage printed looks, embroidered hot pants and collarless jackets, little bit of oriental pop prints. Its seems fun for sure you walk out with a smile and cheerful heart after the show.

Design Melange at Atosa Atosa, an eclectic multi-designer store recently hosted a preview to showcase the collections of Kallol Dutta, Mayank & Shraddha, DL 1961 Jeans and Jewellery by Vijeta Ramchandani of Raya, at Khar in Mumbai.

Winter 2012 by Kallol Dutta contained 4 print stories – ‘Dismembered Fingers’, ‘The Free Copyright Series’, ‘Birds Morphing into Bats’ and the ‘Mating Snails Series’. Most of the prints were based on notions of beauty in society today. A 54 piece collection mixed and matched, created looks which had detailed construction techniques, closures and forms in wool, silk, leather and cotton. Colours had been used abundantly and form an important role in graphic relief.

In contrast, "Raya" unveiled a line of jewellery that was in sync with the design ethos of the Atosa.  The collection demarcated into four ranges – Florals, Chains, Leather and Stones featured large semi-precious stones juxtaposed with punk rock chains and leather while DL 1961 by Mala Hemnani brought to the fore a range of perfectly-fitted, comfortable and stylish denims.
On the occasion Aparna Badlani of Atosa said, “This new season at Atosa is as exciting as it is versatile and colourful, with a special focus on structure and silhouettes. We offer a shopping experience par excellence.”

The preview was attended by who’s who of the city including Gauri Pohoomul, Shalini Shahani, Kunika Singh, Sheeba, Priya Bhimani, Himashi Choudhary, Swati Shetty, Sona Mahapatra, Nisha Jamwval and Sonal Sehgal amongst others.
