The internationally renowned Guess Watches launched One to Watch – Global Blogger Search Campaign for the young and stylish bloggers of late.

The campaign enables two bloggers from each participating country to be the official voice of Guess Blog Access. With a sense of fashion being the only tool; one can apply through the Facebook fan page of Guess watches.

Guess Blogger Search Campaign

The campaign is there as an application on the Guess Watches Facebook page allowing users from around the world to create personal profiles including a custom-built style board to express their personal fashion point-of-view. The users are then supposed to share their profiles through their social networks in an effort to receive style points from all their friends and followers.

The submissions will be reviewed by a panel of judges and two ‘One to Watch’ finalists will be chosen to represent each participating country.

The most popular contestant from each country will be crowned the official Guess blogger and receive the watch products all the way through the year.

As Lakme Fashion Week is hardly a fortnight away, designer Sannam Chopra gives us a peep into her collection, titled, ‘Medieval Pop’ to be showcased at the week.

Bringing to the fore the spirit of Medieval Age, the designer imagines a scene back in that age when a person’s valour was showcased through sport and people would gather around in aspiration to see these men jousting with each other in the courts of kings and queens. In this crowd, stands a damsel in her finery, observing these brawny men do battle who turns out to be the inspiration for this collection.

The collection has been accentuated with the use of Swarovski crystals, metal rivets and chains. While leather protectors add the desired edge to the jewellery. Modern geometry rules the collection, which ranges from necklaces, earrings, cuffs, hair accessories and bags respectively.

The highlight of the collection is its bold-aged softly-rugged look with a dash of colour making each piece dramatic.

Drashta Sarvaiya for LFW WF12Taking inspiration from Gustav Klimt’s paintings designer Drashta Sarvaiya will be showcasing SS ’13 collection at Lakme Fashion Week.

Klimt’s famous nude and semi-nude forms are reinterpreted through well draped dresses in nudes and white in the collection using georgette and crepe mainly. To capture the richness of Gustav Klimt’s paintings along with his love for nature, specifically flowers, the designer has used floral motif light-weight brocade in her designs. The color palette is comprised of colors like white, nude, yellow, mauve and purples, peaches and blues.

About her collection Drashta says, “I’ve worked on peplum and have created different versions of it for various silhouettes.  The key silhouettes consist of dresses, trousers, tunics, shirts and skirts. Klimt’s use of gold leaf and the opulence were iconic during his golden phase. Therefore, embellishment on the designs is done with crystals in difference hues with gold & flowers. Raffia embellishment has taken centre stage to recreate thick stroke like texture on various surfaces. ”

Aniket Satam for LFW WF12The Mayan myth of 2012, being the last year on our calendar where the earth would undergo spiritual transformation and mark the beginning of a new era is the inspiration for debutante designer Aniket Satam’s Winter Festive 2012 collection titled, ‘Aarambh’ to be showcased at forthcoming Lakme Fashion Week.

The designer has worked on ensembles like scribbled pieces of paper with stained ink and blotches for the collection featuring layered silhouettes and tactile textures. Color schemes including milk, ivory, cobalt and ink viscose are blended with fabrics like georgette, cotton jersey, raw silk and velvet which are textured further with flashes of gold foil on bed of abstract embroidery strokes.

All set to enthrall the fashionistas of Mumbai, designer Ritika Bharwani is presenting her contemporary themed collection titled, ‘Midnight Soiree’ at Talent Box at upcoming Lakme Fashion Week.

The collection pays homage to modern contemporary architecture which has been interpreted in the designs through geometric and circular embroidery motifs juxtaposed on dramatic yet structured silhouettes. Inspiration to this contemporary collection comes from the timeless European architectural design motifs which are characterized by symmetry and proportion.

The collection using fabrics like georgettes, jersey with shimmer foil and flowing nets comes to life in the colors like molten gold, fiery vermillion, electric blue and midnight black.

Interpreting the art of embellishment in her own unique way, the designer has experimented with raised embroidery techniques using mother-of-pearl and gold metal materials. The range comprised of cocktail dresses, dramatic gowns and stylish jumpsuits, as well as separates leans heavily on dramatic drapes and fluid structuring.

As we all know Delhites taste buds are classically conditioned for everything soaked in oil and spices, hence the surge of mellow café culture is hard to imagine. Always having taken pride in its pungent mouth shaking flavours the city is now opening up for delicacies as different as its colors.

Though the tea stalls perched at every nook and corner cater a wide spectrum of people looking for a refreshing cup of tea and snacks but the glass walled cafes are making inroads to the young taste buds. One such café Coffee World is tucked in the busy lanes of the city’s busiest Lajpat Nagar market vouching for respite from the hustle bustle of its neighborhood.

At first it’s hard to locate the café as there is no directional signage, even the next lane folks sitting in their air conditioned shops are oblivion of this Swiss coffee parlor as it launched just few months back in the Capital region (sans effective branding), but once you enter the place the ambience is worthwhile all the efforts made.

The minimalistic interiors with monochrome walls narrating the story of coffee beans through black and white images and linear cushiony furniture render a contemporary feel to the place while its East world aesthetic, adequate light and echoes of rock and roll can be delightful for hipsters looking to bide the quality time over coffee and scrumptious delicacies.

Like any other coffee café in Delhi it offers a range of frappes, cappuccino, smoothies and mojitos, along with salads, sandwiches and wraps to savor. Though the non-coffee caramel frappe with thick foam served with smoked chicken & pepper/veg fajita sandwich come as a perfect combo complementing the mutual flavors. The barbeque cottage cheese and chicken loaf either make for a lip-smacking offering.

The menu with desserts including ice cream sundaes and chocolate cakes has waffle as its tsar which is not much popular in Delhi, as only highbrow cafes of five stars and hippie food joints at Paharganj serve it in different versions. The luscious waffle with thick strawberry syrup, or the one served with chocolate ice cream is the must-have for everyone who have this psychedelic affair with their tongues.
