La nation is preparing for la onset of winter et it is just a happenstance that Nivea too completed its 100th year in chorus. Sourendra Kumar Das tête-à-têtes avec their skin-specialist Deepa Desa  who educates la fashionistas about skin care in la cold season that can be extremely stressful for la skin due to cold temperature outside as well as drying-low humidity resulting from heating inside…

When one is outside home, la cold temperature results in poor blood circulation in facial skin. “To keep your skin beautiful et healthy during winter, vous should help it to restore la protective hydrolipid barrier by moisturizing et protecting against UV-light. One should go easier on daily cleansing et alcohol containing skin care as extreme weather weakens skin’s balance et protective lipid barrier,” revealed Desa.

La skin specialist suggests to go heavier on moisturizers. “Moisturizers are based on humectants, emollients et occlusive that helps by attracting water to la epidermis, increases ability to retain moisture et provides protective respectively. And if la moisturizer has high-water content, one should apply it at least an hour before going outside,” added Desa.

Taking long hot showers can contribute to skin’s dehydration so it is advisable to put little shower milk in la tub. “Winter doesn’t mean no sun, hence one’s sun’s protection should not be lower than 15 SPF or else it will result in UV damage et photoaging. Also, use good lip balm avec shea butter, jojoba butter or avocado oil before going outside et before retiring for la day,” advised Desa.

So, this winter la message for la fashionistas is that – do not give to la winter blues et don’t quit partying. Do your daily socializing avec all a-la-mode winter skin care and that is bound to make vous winter a most modish one…

Louis Vuitton and luggage go hand in hand; no one understands the language of luggage better than this iconic label. Gaston Louis, grandson of Louis Vuitton took it a notch further.

The label recently came up with 30 hotel labels postcards carefully selected from Gaston’s private collection of 3000 as a collector’s boxed set. The colorful hotel stickers which were fixed upon by the hotels around the world spoke a secret language that time shared by porters and bellboys across Europe – symbolizing old world mystery and charm in modern context.

Fondly referred as mini posters by Gaston himself, the collection of 30 of them packed in an elegant box with LV monogram, this hotel stickers postcards box came after the launch of a book, ‘Louis Vuitton 100 legendary trunks’ tracing over 150 years of legacy of the label.

Designer Parul Grover’s latest collection featuring Jalabiyas with a twist came out surprisingly in its ethereal avatar.  Inspired by the Greco-Roman drapes this supple and delicate collection would make any woman look like a Greek Goddess.

Pleated and draped to give a new stroke to the conventional kaftans, Parul has beautifully come up with flowy Jalabiyas. The use of luxury fabrics encrusted with crystals offset eerie drapes and the color palette is suffused with rich colors like dark purple, deep red, bright pink and ivory to nudes and beiges.

Parul defines collection, “The crystal studded embellishment makes these jalabiyas look all the more stunning. The long and flowy drapes are the USP along with kaftan sleeves which makes this dress more chic. The lower portion below the waist is designed in style of a harem which works as a height enhancer.”

Where in India women prefer being a homemaker after their marriage this small town girl from Assam had a dream of making it big. To pursue her dreams Kavita Sachdev came to Mumbai and worked simultaneously to support herself. She learnt to be independent at the age of 18, was married at 24, a mother at 25 and today, at the age of 29, the reigning Mrs India received international acclaim being crowned as first runner up for Mrs Globe Pageant 2011…

Tell us something about your formative life and academics?
I was born and raised in a small part of Assam called Duliajan. I came down to Mumbai in the year 1999 to pursue my degree in English Literature from Sophia’s College. After the completion of my degree I joined Indian Airlines as a cabin crew. I continued with the job for three years and meanwhile I met the prince charming of my life and decided to get married.

How did modeling happen to you? How did it change your life?
After I gave birth to my daughter who will be of 4 years this November, life started getting very monotonous; it just revolved around my family and my child. So one fine day it was my mother in law who came up with the proposal of me getting into modeling which even I thought of giving it a chance. It was 2010 when I first walked the ramp for Mrs.Gladrags contest where I was crowned as Mrs.Gladrags.

So you always wanted to be a model? If you had not been a model what else would have yearned for?
I never gave a serious thought to modeling even though I walked at my college fests. But I always yearned to do something in the creative field. I was a lot into music and drama during my school days. I never wanted to do a 9 to 5 job, that’s why joined Indian Airlines as an air hostess after pursuing my degree.

What’s your style statement?
It’s very classic and simple. I believe that your clothes should express your personality. My style draws a picture of womanhood as I am pretty feminist by nature.

Tell me your beauty and fitness regime? How did you maintain yourself after being married with a 4 year old kid?
It’s really important to take care of yourself. I am a lot into yoga and practice various other forms exercise too like Pilates and aerobics. I go for weight training not on a regular basis but sometimes when required. And to sustain a healthy skin I do cleansing, toning and moisturizing regularly and maintain a healthy diet. Everything depends on how you manage your time, its all about balancing.

So what do you like to do when not modeling?
I love love love traveling. I design clothes and architectures intrigue me a lot so I also do a bit of interior designing for myself, my little daughter and for my friends.

When and what was your first modeling assignment?
It was during college fest I walked the ramp for the first time. After that I have performed for a few print editions. It was at Mrs. Gladrags in 2010, where I appeared for the first time on a professional level.

How do you feel being the first runner up at the Mrs. Globe Pageant 2011?
It was a very humble and elating experience. I feel proud when I think out of 37 countries across the world; I bagged the crown of the first runners up.

As we all know our Indian society holds a very conservative point of view regarding modeling. So what was your family’s point of view on you taking up modeling as a career after being married?
Fortunately for me my family has always been supportive, starting from my parents to my in laws. My mother in law suggested me to join modeling and my husband was super excited with the idea. And I think people are opening up in our country and their perception about modeling is gradually changing.

What was the most memorable moment of your life?
For me it was when I gave birth to my child. It was one of the most amazing feelings till date. It changes your whole perception; you tend to see things from a different point of view.

Comparison between the Indian models and the international models?
There is no difference, it’s a profession and people are pretty professional from wherever they might be. I had models from 37 countries participating along with me with a basic motto. Yes apart from that there is just one difference they are much taller than the Indian models …ha ha (laughs).
