The designer duo Niket & Jainee is debuting at WIFW A/W 2011 with its collection called ‘Mandana’ based on the tribal folk art of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.

The theme is mainly variety of exquisite decorative designs which are highlighted with dots and dashes. The collection is an electric mix of design element inspired from Indian heritage, where the embroidery style is very tribal. It underlines the freedom of thought and essence of purity using net, georgette and crushed silk. Tunic, long dresses and the stylish kaftans are some of the highlights of the collection. The cut, fall and flow of the garments are just like the flow of the waves. The color story for collection comprises of red, grey, black, yellow, beige, off whites and orange hues.

Elegance is defined through sarees and anarkalis, which redefine sensuality and subtle glamour and present a distinctive statement. The soft net in bright shades, the unusual embroidery, an exquisite texture and a perfect detailing makes the long anarkalis a masterpiece. The embellishments are inspired from tribal art explorations and are hand crafted using both bright and dull gold zari threads.

Designer Varija Bajaj will be showcasing ‘Boho Chic to Boho Bride’, a collection comprising of both bridal and chic elements at WIFW A/W 2011.

The Boho Chic range with bohemian and gypsy fusion style is naughty yet adorable in its drape and silhouette. Chunky knits, Fringes, laces, metal embellishments, have been used with unexpected combinations of patterns, textures, and seasonal styles for the uber-attractive element of fashion confidence. With toned down colours it is essentially targeted to the modern chic both in India and Internationally.

Varija’s mood for the Boho Bridal range is modern and cutting-edge yet the soul belongs to the glorious and illustrious past. Her trademark tassels, use of beads and other trims are for the younger lot. Interesting twist is given to unconventional cuts. Once again she has redefined the six yards of saree with unusual drapes. There is an extensive use of nets, georgettes, silk and satin in the collection which is bold yet beautiful, sensual yet aesthetic, romantic yet practical.

Designer Payal Jain narrates five stories representing all the moods and elements – Earth, water, fire, air and ether, to compile her collection for WIFW A/W 2011.

Believing Hindu mythology that everybody consists of these five elements she depicts the Earth  by trees, leaves, flowers and colors of nature in vivid Madhubani hand painted prints in warm tones of beige, mocha, chocolate, leaf, forest and jade. The silhouettes flow and drape to enhance the sense of touch.

The next story narrates the sense of taste and touch of water in myriad tones of blue ranging from the deep turquoise, strong inky blue, indigo, sapphire sky to warm Midnight Ocean blue. The soft georgettes, chiffons and jerseys drape and flow like the waves of the ocean falling in sensual and mysterious layers around the feminine form. The Madhubani elements of fish, coral, turtles, flora and fauna recreate the magic of the infinite ocean.

The fire is depicted by the vibrant shades of molten orange, burnt golden, ripe tangerine, flaming red and deep crimson erupting into flames to represent the vibrance and vitality.

Whereas air is represented by all hues ranging from colorless white to shades of pale grey, iridescent shell, smoke, pewter and moving to carbon, midnight black and deep ebony. The elements of air are articulated by birds, butterflies, clouds and sky in warm tones of grey and black with intricate line drawings sprayed over beautiful and strong brush strokes.

In nutshell this collection is a representation of all these varied color palettes and myriad emotions and senses. The silhouettes are long, draped tunics and dresses with multiple cascading layered skirts and structured jackets giving definition to the curves of the feminine form. The highlights are sprinkling of sequins and crystal with interesting hand stitched surface treatments. The accessories are chunky stone neck pieces and unique stone and ceramic belts.

Khushali Kumar’s collection for WIFW A/W 2011 takes its inspiration from a glamorous woman at her own unique orbit circling around her own imaginary world – a sort of fine actress walking the red carpet with poise and dignity in high styled evening wear.

Hyper decorative high technological textures and unique wedding veil used in the collection perfectly embodies the theme. Exotic bird feathers combined with metal stripes, trimmings and embellishments are purely futuristic. Metal chips of gold, chrome and silver, broken glass effects, metal hangings enhanced appliques on crystalized dresses takes the collection to a unique orbit itself.

The color palette is comprised of chrome, silver, gun metal, bronze, gold, sand, black and blood red. And, the usage of applique tulles, developed metal chipped surface, romantic roughed chiffons , feathered and metallized nets render distinctness to the collection.
